I purchased my first scooter about 4 weeks ago. Bought a 2009 Kymco Agility 125. It had 1500 miles at the time, and I paid $1100. Probably the best $1100 I have ever spent. Anyway...
I am new to scootering. Also not the bravest fellow in the world. Scared of speeds, heights, etc...
Anyway, I still love my scooter!
My question is this...
How do you comfortably ride in the wind? I live near Chicago, and fall has just begun, which is our windiest season...
On gusty days, I get knocked around quite a bit, and I have had some white knuckle rides, and those are no fun...
Is the wind something I will get used to as I get more confident? Or...
Will a bigger/heavier bike be far superior to my 125 with regards to handling in the wind? I am currently fantasizing about a bigger bike (People 300 GTI?)...

Personally i just got used to it. I used to slow down a lot when it was windy out but now i either drive thro town instead where its less windy, or i just hold on tighter and keep going.

Hi Kenny,
Last month as Hurricane Isaac approached the Gulf Coast I would come home from work and change into my riding gear for the sole purpose of riding in wind. I am in no position to be advising you but I'm sure the old pro riders would agree, practice, practice, practice. My XC500 weighs close to 500lbs. and is a stable solid ride. It sounds like you stole that bike so ride the hell out of it and enjoy. Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you will really like sharing your Kymco adventures with us and if there's anything I can do to help just ask.

Dont get me wrong, i still have the odd crap in my pants moments if its gale force outside, they just happen less often now :)
If you can avoid open country roads and stick to city/town roads in built-up areas the wind tends to blow less due to the buildings softening it down. I still do slow 10km/h or so on real windy days if im riding the 50cc but thats more because of the wind slowing me down, not thro choice :D

oh before i forget...never NEVER fight against the wind. if you try and fight against it say the wind is blowing heavily from the right dont lean into it because when it suddenly starts blowing from the left then you will swerve to the right at a rapid rate and you dont wanna be having an arguement with the front of an oncoming car. just let the wind do what it wants with you (within reason)
