Title: Laminar Lip anybody?
Post by: Stephan on June 04, 2009, 04:24:54 PM
Especially interested in you experiences with Laminar Lip and the
higher stock Kymco windscreen, that came with the first versions
of the Xciting 500 or Xciting 250!

I have not changed my OEM windshield but I did add the Laminar L:ip two (2) years ago and it's DA BOMB!  The wind used to hit the top of my helmet but since the addition of the LL, it now brushes the top of my orange mohawk!  Much nicer.

The only problem that I've had with it is not actually a problem so much as an annoyance.  I used to ride with an orange silk scarf flapping behind me to catch the attention of the cagers back there.  But with the addition of the LL, it created a vacuum between me and the windshield and now any scarfs get sucked in front of me and flap around towards the windshield instead of behind me  :o.  It's actually quite funny and I howled the first time I realized what was happening  :D.  No more scarfs for me.

Nice, just what I wanted to hear!

What about wind-noise and helmet-buffeting at 55 mph+?

I'll see about getting some pics up.

The buffetting was why I got the LL.  It was killing me.  That is a thing of the past and the noise is less because of the vacuum incaused by the change of the air flow.  I don't like riding without my LL now!

I agree. Before the lip it was almost painful to ride at 55+. Much more comfortable now.
