Title: Head Wind Speed

How much of a difference in road speed should I expect from my A50?  On Sunday I was out on a 70km trip and with the lee wind I was averaging over 70kph. But on the return trip and with a head wind which was nothing serious, I was bobbing around 60ish.

10 kph is a fair drop in speed with a slight head wind, is this on par for others? I'm wondering now what can be done to reduce the number?

Depends really on the wind but yeah you can drop down a fair bit at times, kinda the same as going uphill. Lighter rollers and a stiffer torque spring help, same as they do for hills, but you will still drop a little.

I tend to do around 42-45mph on flats normally but with an on-coming head wind i have seen me drop to just under 40mph. I used to drop a lot more but i went lighter again on my rollers recently and now can usually keep to around the 40mph mark even in wind, it just takes me longer than normal to get it up to speed if its windy.

..i've done some crazy mods to some a50s...

..i've never been able to much reduce the headwind and hill speed drop...

..around 42 indicated, is about the best i ever did...up my steepest daily hills...

..most 4t 49.5cc scoots will falter up th hill and in the wind...

..the BEST way to eliminate that drastic 49.5cc drop is to get a 2t scoot...

I got one of them thar 2t scooters boy  :)

Its at the paint shop right now getting sprayed X-Power/Tempest Grey. Shes a gonna be a beautiful machine very soon 8)

Even stock 2ts suck though. I remember the times when I worried about head winds and steep hills  :D

Gotta build it up. Especially with the newer models like mine. Mine would barely go over 30 mph when I first got it  :-[
