Title: what should i be doing for service
Post by: Jaxon on July 31, 2012, 03:30:08 AM
Hey everyone. Im new to the scooter world. Just bought a '06 xciting 250 with 2800 miles on it. The previous owner kinda seems to have been hard on the bike. What things should I replace and or service at this point in the bikes life?

Im pretty sure I need brake pads and new brake levers (been dropped on both sides and bent both) It also needs a new mirror and the service oil light just came back on after I changed it yesterday. The mufler sounds a little "tinny" when excelerating from a stop. Smooths out after that though.

Im going to hire a local scooter mechanic to go through it and tune it up. Which parts should I order for him to put on?

clean the scoot. check belt, clutch, rollers, and everything inside the cvt. Clean and lube where applicable. check nuts and bolts, and tighten. check electrical system for loose connections, splits, etc. check fuel line for leaks. check engine for signs of leaks, check valve clearances.

I bought one in similar condition 7500 miles. Hard carb rebuilt and changed all fluids. Diaphragm and piston in carburator, oil, cleaned out cvt new weights and clutch cleaned. Runs like a bat out of Hell!

Vivo can talk to you about "Magical Unicorn Piss!". Use super unleaded. Use super unleaded. Use super unleaded and each fill up one ounce of Seafoam.

Vivo: So should I add 1 oz of Seafoam to the super unleaded gas everytime I fill up?

Maybe not everytime. Just once in a while to flush out some unwanted deposits.
