Has anyone seen or ridden one of these things?
I'm looking to upgrade and am looking at the BMW, 2013 Burgman 650 or the Myroad 700i.

I would stay away from the Burgman, I have known people who only get mid 30's MPG, and the cost to service the transmission is very high? The new Tmax 550 looks like a heck of a bike to. For touring, it looks like the 700 is the bike to beat. :-*

The MyRoad 700i has been delayed for several countries in part because BMW commissioned Kymco to build the engine for their maxi scooters. The front end of the MyRoad is bug ugly if you ask me.
I owned a 2003 Burgman 650 and never had any problems. I got 38 to 43mpg on it. It handles tons better than my XCiting because the engine is solid mounted and the transmission moves with the rear wheel. It's smoother with a larger twin cylinder engine... I get about 48mpg on my XCiting 500Ri - but I'd swap it back to a Burgman and 38mpg for the handling if someone offered to trade.

...And the Tmax is not offered new here in the states anymore. You would have to buy that one used. I agree on the nose of the 700. It is butt ugly. Tmax would still be my 1st choice if $$$ wasn't an issue.

I read on some forum once where a guy had to pay $1,200 to fix his trans/variator on his burgman 650. The X500 owner could replace his entire variator, belt, and entire clutch essembly for about grand or so. I get at least 50 MPG on my X500. Many Burger owners state they get 34 MPG at freeway speeds. I think the burg 650 is very comfortable, but is to heavy. It is a nice looking bike too, but at the price they are asking for it, you could buy 2 new X500's. Also I fear if Osama Obama is re-elected we will be lucky to only pay $5.00 at the pump? If I made $200,000.00 per year, I would go with something else maybe? But I go the speed limit and don't worry so much about how the scoot handles. It's not a race bike, not a $28,000.00 Gold wing, BMW 1600 six cylinder and so on. My wife and I ride it about twice a week at least 100 miles per trip. It's comfortable and get's us there and back. That's all I ask of it. I don't like the look of the 700 also, the 4 head light front end was a misstake in my opinion. I have heard some great things about the new Tmax, but will we get it here in the USA? And the price, holy crap. I like the Silver wing, but it set's you to close to the handle bars, you can't move back on the seat, and the price? I feel the burger and yamaha 400 may not have the needed power for 2 up freeways? I may be wrong, but I don't want to spend thousands to find out I made a big misstake. I'm going to stay with the X500 for now. :-*

Older Burgmans had issues, I think the pre 2004 models specificaly were prone to transmission problems, but I've never seen
problems on newer bikes.
The way I see it, my next bike or scoot will have to have some kind of electronic CVT or a dual clutch transmission.
There's just too much hassle with roller weights and stuff around it, and you always end up with compromise in some way.
I'd kill for a power/eco mode..

The Burgman 650 is very complex machine and those who don't understand its operation are apt to stay away from it. The transmission issues the 03/04 models had have been resolved. Who ever is only getting in the 30's mpg on the highway must be using this thing to drag race, I know a lot of people including several friends who achieve 53+ mpg @ 65mph on the highway with city riding yielding 38 to 43 mpg in NYC traffic.
I don't know how many miles you all have on your machines but a lot of these 650's have 50,000 + miles on them and are still going strong with a few having over 90,000. My 08 400 Burgman has 22,000 miles on it and doesn't show any signs of slowing.
All machines have there Pro's and Con's but IMO the Pro's of the 650 Burgman outweigh the con's and owning the 400 I will say that I am bias towards Suzuki but am keeping an open mind while going through the selection process.
It is unfortunate that neither the BMW or the Myroad are here in the states yet, I guess I'm just going to have to be patient but I hate waiting.
So back to the initial question, has anyone seen the Myroad in the flesh yet?

I now have a 2012 Burg 650, only 4000 miles so far....worst 42mpg. best 54. XL windshield,large box. Great ride. My 2008 Burg 650(bought used) had 75000 + miles but a car took it out. Not a problem with it. If I was only riding single,and not loaded up I would have stayed with my 08 Xciting . The 15 inch front,14rear tires is what makes a big difference in the ride on the Xciting and Burg 650. :) ;D

I'll buy one. Have a couple of exciting 500s. Fun and reliable. I would wager the Myroad 700 is a better value than Suzuki, Honda or the BMW. Have not seen one here yet. Arizona.

Hello guys,
I always prefer some ridden some thing and manage the scooter ride. I race with my friends car like BMW so its really very good car for ridden. I also ridden exciting 700i and its so smooth drive.

I owned a 2008 Burgman 650. My only issues with it were (1) weight; and (2) the automatic downshift into low. At 620 lbs dry the bike was a lot to haul around in hot, slow, summer traffic. I've owned a lot heavier bikes though and the real issue for me was I could never get used to the computer automatically downsh**ing at about 15 mph. Too me it was abrupt and annoying. The 650 transmission is computer controlled and it was always going to happen whether you were going through a turn or whatever.
For fun I installed a Yoshimura pipe and Power Commander III module and it surprised a lot of other bike owners.
For the type of riding I do I enjoy my 500 Ri ABS better.

Probably not - I'm very happy with the bike as it stands. I added that stuff to the Burgman as an expensive lark. I like the sound of the stock pipe on the Kymco. I've lost a good deal of hearing to open pipes on Harleys, rock n' roll, and firearms. I'll try to maintain what I have left.

Yes I have owned Harley's in the past and always kept the stock pipe. I never understood the open pipe deal? I only tour, so 200 miles per day on the weekend is nothing. Last thing I need is a super loud blab, blap, blap all day long. Try listening to to that for 500-700 miles in a day. :-*

You're right! Loud pipes sound good when a bike just passes by..... but try listening to that for the whole time... Lol!

The Harleys I owned were not touring glides but rather FXs, Sportsters, and Softails that I customized and the shorter pipes were more for style. I've taken long rides on those bikes and at highway speeds the sound of the wind, pavement, and other vehicles and the dampening of your helmet tends to somewhat drown out loud pipes to a degree. I agree however that short pipes, and especially open pipes, are not for serious touring.
