Hey guys,
anyone with a good ear take a listen to this video and tell me if they think this could be exhaust related or something else (terminal)? there is some wind noise, but you can hear 1st, their is a minor hesitation from a stop to a go. and 2 there is a particular noise that can be heard after the bike starts gaining RPM's.
Kymco people 250 acceleration noise? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0P6Q-5UKDI#)

My '06 People 250 sounds just like that. I took it to my trusty dealer and he thought it was fine, about 5KM ago and the sound hasn't changed since. I ignore it now, but don't like the sound. It sounds to me like something is loose in the muffler.

It has an air injection system that injects fresh air into the muffler for emissions. It make that rattling sound. Mine does it as well.

thanks for the great response...
I wonder if the exhaust was straight enough that you'd see flames because of this air injection system! haha, not gonna do it - I enjoy a quiet motor..

Excellent! That makes sense.

Hi,
I had a similar problem, I had a lot of noise coming out of my variator, the roller weights to be exact. I lubed them and now have a lot less noise.

great... I'm getting a new belt and slider weights installed next week! hoping this will smooth things out a tad.

What weights are you putting in?
Since mine has some decent mileage on it, and won't quite get to top speed, I figured it would be rollers as a start. Having a hard time finding the stock roller weights!
As an addendum, when going sliders would I need to add weight?

Going 22g (23x18) Dr Pulley Sliders. OEM is 21g, but they are impossible to find. They should feel the same acceleration wise, and MAYBE give me back some throttle at cruising speeds (less RPM's to do the same work)

Let us know how that works out for you. I may look into that when its time to change rollers.
