Title: Leo Vince fitted, got a question tho.
Post by: streido on June 12, 2012, 07:21:18 PM
Just fitted my Leo Vince (thanks Rookie  :) ) looks amazing  8)

My scoot looks years newer and more modern now, and that rip off it........ ;D

Man its loud, may need to wear ear plugs now when i ride lol.

Anyway, questions,

Whats the best thing to do about the mount for the rear mudguard that is on the stock exaust but isnt on a Leo? Do you make up a bracket to support the mudguard or just leave it free?

I felt at WOT i got a little "pulsing" feeling at times, kinda feels like i go go up a jet size cos it was simililair to when i 1st derestricted and ran on a 80 jet till my new one arrived. Once my 82 went in the feeling went away, tho im not entirely sure it is the same as it was ages ago.

Anyone else whos running a Leo Vince have to upjet or are you all still on 82 jets? According to the Leo Vince site you do not need  to upjet

May just need more air in so i plan on trying my open filter and bigger jet (again) at the weekend maybe.

Oh and i almost forgot........

Whats that little spring for where the can joins the downpipe?

Just to hold both bits together?

I had the same issue with mud flap when I installed the exhaust I currently have fitted, your talking about the little bracket that hangs off the right side if you were staring at it from the back right? If so, I took a black zip tie and secured it around the little bracket on the fender and then looped it around something about 8 inches above the bracket. I can't recall what exactly I have it looped around but it's like it's just suspended a little bit so it doesn't sit on the muffler and melt all over it. Not the most professional fix but since I used black zip ties no one ever notices. just kinda blends in.

Out of intrest Did you buy the exhaust new or used???

Cool. I ordered a few new plugs last night for chops and an 84 jet to try with the stock air box. I got every jet size from 88-120 now too, apart from a 90, so im hoping i can finally dial it all in on my open filter this weekend if its dry. That zaust is loud as it is so once an open filter is on the houses will be shaking as i ride up the road lol.

I did almost do the same tie-wrap thing as you last night Kenho  :D Will look tonight and work something out, its not anything difficult to bodge up some bracket. I waa wondering if that kind of "pulsing" was maybe just as simple as my mudguard rubbing on my back tyre at full speed? If the wind pushed it about it could just be that, will have done 20-25miles today so going to check under the mudguard tonight for any evidence of this.

Kisbee....... i bought it off another forum member, The Rookie, who was re-restricting and puttimg back to stock an A50 for his daughter. Looks almost new but cost less than the £100+ for a new one and delivery.

Hi mate, looks familiar!
Glad it arrived OK (ignore my PM!), previous owenr hadn't done anything just left the rear hugger floating with no mount at all at that point.

I took the spring off to try and split the exhaust for shipping, nothing moves and I've a feeling it's actually just cosmetic!

Hey, thats the same exhaust that i've got. :D
Sounds sweet, doesn't it? ;)

But to the answers:
- I didn't need to upjet, but then, i didn't remove the restriction in it, so that might explain it.
- I havent put anything on to hold the mudguard, as it seems to be holding itself quite fine, so no worries there. :)
- And the little spring is just to hold the parts together, yeah :D

Those were the days...........

The Streets "Weak Become Heroes" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Z1kRhiPE0E#)

Song sums it all up, loved my raving days, illegal parties, good quality drugs, no hassle, everyone loved everyone else and we just laughed, danced and f***ed around in a field or warehouse for 12 hrs then went to someones house to chill out, get a couple hrs sleep (maybe) then do it all again. Used to go out on a fri after work and come home sometime around tuesday  ;D

Just too bad that the human body seems not to be made for this kind of use for extended periods of time. I'm just not capable anymore to deal with hangovers this large....  ;D

Its fine when youre young, i could go out all night, grab an hours sleep then still make my work no probs, my body seemed to stand up pretty well considering what i put it thro, couldnt do that now, no way.

Hardly drink alcohol now, dont neck things i shouldnt anymore and cant go awol all weekend now i got a wife and kids, still got the good memories tho. Those days were life changing for loads of people. Gave us all a different view of what was important in life and what was just b.s  :)

..had hair halfway down my back...we'd usually be at the local game-room (past local term), when video games were just becoming a f***ing awesome thing!!...

..i beat pac-man, miss pac, donkey kong, and could overheat the frikin asteroid and meteor machines...

..galaga and galaxian were th' bomb........

..there'd generally be 100 or so ppls , right down-town inna gravel lot building, playing games, shootin pool, parking lot was the real party tho..

..wasnt uncommon to see a train being run after midnight...

..on th hood of some oldsmobile or ltd...

Oh yeah  8)

I loved Defender, spent a small fortune on that game. My mates mum had a small grocer shop with 2 video games in it, he used to advise her which ones to get, Defender was there for about 2 yrs  :D. Then along came Burn Out.........

We called the parties Warehouse parties since most where in old abandoned warehouses or fields. Was like a special op mission gettimg there or even finding where it was. Lots of calls to numbers, who gave you another number to call to ask for a guy who knows a guy who may be able to tell you where to meet lol. I just loved how you had hundreds or even thousand of young kids crammed together which shoud have been a recipe for disaster but i never once saw a fight or arguement ever, everyone just got along and had a good time. Then the gov here made new laws and ruined it all, the business moved in and commercialised it all, the drugs got cheaper but also cut and everything just turned to sh**. Same way they f***ed over the hippies in the 60's/70's, they dont like it when you dont comply  ???

Convoy was the 1st ever video cassette movie i ever watched. Saw it at my grans cos we were too poor to have a vcr at the time  :-[

That was closely followed by Smokey & the Bandit, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Zombie Flesh Eaters, hard going when your only 10/11years old.  :o. We had no classification in this country for videos for the 1st few years so anything was available to anyone. Our gran loved horror movies so i grew up with Vampires, Werewolves and zombies   :D

That was a fad in the High School '70s days. Our cars sported expensive CB antennas then. I had a K40 antenna, beautiful!!!

Think we actually thought we were real truckers going down route 66 as we cruised around in our beat up old hatchbacks lol

Lol!!   I had a '73 Dodge Colt! 1.6L OHC Saturn engine, cam5, headers, twin Webber side draft, port and polished....  ;D sold it in 1988..

Nice, we were mostly in old 80's Fords. Not quite as cool as your ride was.

I had it's sister... The Chevette! We packed 14, 12 year old kids, and me into it, and drove 8-9 miles to the beach. The bottom was dragging the whole way. When we left for home we just followed the groves in the road.

I remember once we had smoke coming thro the air vents when i was racing about with 4 mates in the car !!! Pulled over and took the key out the ignition but it was still running, we ran away till it stopped cos we thought it was going to blow. It didnt, it just stopped itself after 30secs or so then it started right back up and ran fine again once it cooled down  :D. We were only 17-18 and i didmt even have a license at the time.

Back to the original topic.....

Just checked my plug and its insulator looks pure white to me, cant see any brown or tan on it  :o

Guess Leo Vince website was wrong and i do need to rejet? Im rejetting later today up one size 1st to an 84 to see what that gives me.. I knew if felt a little lean when riding, i was sure of it, just been sidetracked with the sticky brake piston ive had.

The Ford Escort was very popular before, especially the Brenda and the RS2000. Older folks had the Cortina.
