I was thinking about shifting the Main jet on my Kymco Agility 50 4t,
but it looks like I have to take the carb off just to change it.. ?
How do I change the Main jet easy?
Thanks

Theres a vid and info in this link, http://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=6198.0 (http://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=6198.0)
Its pretty easy really, just make sure you refit the rubber gasket back in properly on the float bowl before you close it all back up. Should be a 10 min job.

...i can do it in 5!...lol...
:o
-
Probably took me 30 mins my first time :)
I'm like word now. 5 mins.
A word of advice, don't remove anything you don't have to(throttle cable, wiring). All you need is to be able to turn it sideways and remove the bowl.

I really hate doing it myself. Every time seems like the time it's all going to break/tear a seal/loose a float pin. I'm happily getting into injection instead for a daily driver.
-
Injection?
What chu got cookin?

Went Aprilia shopping today... I may just get it Tuesday.

..do tell...

Would be a good investment

They want 2,250.00 out the door for a 2010 SR Factory, and I am trying to get them to throw in the HGT fuel re mapping with it. They say they contacted him but no answer. I'll give a shout tonight. They can send the fuel controller to him, and he can ship it back to me... Simple... not. Now I have to go back to Tampa on Friday. if they go for it. There are three more leftovers from 2009 that are just as nice, and a bit cheaper too. In Miami tho. almost 8 hours from here.
-
There's four of those in MI. I called on them today, all brand new 2009's just like the ones you're looking at, but just under $2,000. Might be worth looking into shipping costs and going about it that way.

Hi guys, I opened my carb today and guess what..
There was a 82 main jet in there from before :o
I dont understand.. What is the original jet size on the Agility 50?
Is the tuning jet (that is also 82) another MM in lenght or width or something?
Please help!
Thank you.
-
..my oem jet was an 82...
-
Then why do everyone say that I should change to a 5mm 82?
-
..some oems seem to be an 80, instead of 82..
-
So if its 82 from before I dont need to change it right?

My 2008 agility had an 80 jet from new, my friends A50 had an 80 also, far as i know all agilities have an 80 jet as standard, at least incthe UK.
Not a big problem, only cost you a couple of quid and now you know you have the correct jet in. Keep the new 82 and drill it out if you ever need a larger jet, ie if you fit an open filter etc later.

i brought an exaust and put it on my kymco agility 50 trying to make it faster, but it didnt make a difference. i have now ordered a 82 jet, will this make a difference?? :)

Short answer, no.
My Leo Vince didnt give me any more speed but it does feel like it gained a little mid-range power, but that could just be my imagination playing tricks on me cos it sounds louder.
Race variator and cvt tuning are the simplest ways to gain speed, or get a 72cc kit, or a bigger engined scoot. You will struggle to get much over 50-53mph showing on your A50 speedo without major mods and major expense and time imo.

My 2008 Agility bought in the USA came with a replacement 82mm jet. I have been too chicken to open up the carb and see what size came in it, but I am sure it is 80mm.

Its honestly easy to change the jet OD, i was the same when i did my 1st one but it really is quite simple, you cant really go wrong.
80 may be ok but it could also leave you slightly lean. Kymco recommend an 82 after derestriction.

..dad lives in oregon, which i believe is a semi-wet climate?
..yes?..no?..
..if so, an 80 might be more appropriate...

Well om on an 82 here in Scotland where its pretty wet and damp at least 40%-50% of the time and my plug comes out perfect, nice and chocolate brown. Think im almost sea level or just slighy above, on the wet days i do lose some power and top end but dry days its perfect. Think if i went down i would be good in wet weather but a little lean on the dry days so i err on the side of caution. I ride slower in the rain anyway, at least on the bends anyway :)
-
..you didnt hear me say this, but a lighter tan color would result in a bit better response...
..the 4ts are a lil more forgiving than a 2t, when it comes to a slightly leaner, long-term setup...
..it also seems to reduce performance loss in wetter weather, when the oxygen level is lower due to all the moisture..
..now, i reckon i'm speaking more about with a free-flow air filter...
..the oem airbox setup isn't nearly as sensitive...
-
Yeah i meant like milk chocolate. Kinda like a cup of hot chocolate coloured, it is like a tan not dark brown.
-
..yeah thats good...still room tho...
-
ok thanks, im not trying to get it to go super fast. it only does 30mph at the moment, would just like to be able to keep up with traffic! best suggestions?
-
..wwo...30mph is slooowww...
-
yeahhhh.... i know !
-
..dderestricted, right?..
-
It cant be derestricted if it only goes 30mph, unless it has major problems somewhere.
There really is no point doing anything to try increase speed until you derestrict it fully. It physically cannot go ovet 30-31mph with the restrictions in place, its impossible.
You also dont need an 82 jet in until you derestrict it, 80 is fine for a restricted scoot.
-
how do i fully derestrict it then?

what will i get if i leave the cdi? dont trust my self to cut that haha
-
Should get more or less around the same, 40-42mph-ish.
My local Kymco dealer wont cut the cdi any more he said, think he had an issue in the past. The cdi lets it rev much better when cut tho and the engine just feels more responsive. You can buy a cheap unrestricted cdi on ebay for under £10 if you dont want to cut it.
-
okay thats fine, thanks for your help :) :)
-
...but you really should do that cdi cut...
..it's worth it...
-
...just take one of these..
-
...go at the cdi like this...
..there's nothing there that you can harm...
-
...look closely, and you can see the stranded wire...
