Title: Super 8 Under-fairing

I dont know what it's called. It's the cover under the fairing behind the front wheel. This thing traps air at high speeds and slows the scoot. I want to make slots or drill holes so the air can pass thru. I havent dismantled or peeped thru the thing and I don't know what's behind it. I might just damage the scoot or what's behind that cover especially when rain water or mud enters. . Anybody of you s8 owners know what's behind this cover? TIA!

Hi Vivo I seen the part you talking about, it actually have ridges that seems they should be open, I know in other Kymco scooters that's where the Water Radiator goes, but  our scooters are air cooled. If I was going to open that part i will cut around the ridges and maybe install a screen in case of mud/Rain. Honestly I do not thin k there is anything Critical behind it. You can always remove the part and take a look what lays behind it.

Thanks man! I havent had the time really to open it up. Your idea of a screen is very good, maybe the aluminum screen mesh used on some grill mods on cars.

I've always called it a belly pan. It comes off easily enough from the floorboard side. Just a few screws, and a couple bolts. It's a great idea to open that area up. Better air to the engine, and less drag on the bike.

Well there is that. I never ride in the rain or even for awhile after. Perhaps a longer fender, or a Mud Flap of sorts?

Trapped air or causing air to become turbulant can cause even more "drag". I really don't think you'll notice the difference. Deflect the air, my opinion.

Deflecting the air was my first opinion but cannot figure out how.
