Title: Shad case mounting (no, not THAT kind of mounting...)
Post by: hippiebrian on May 29, 2012, 07:18:31 PM
I've been looking at a Shad top case for my scooter, and when I check for fitment it says that the People requires a small plate.  Every site says the plate comes with the case, but none seem to offer the small one as an option, nor does anyone have them for sale.  Has anyone got one of these and, if so, where did you get the correct mounting plate (or did you?).

Well, I called a company and they said the stock plate will work.  I ordered one, and hope they were right.  Worst case, I suppose. is either the plate or the rack gets modified a bit (preferably the plate if anything).

has anyone mounted a shad case?  Any advice would be appreciated.

I haven't mounted a Shad case, or any topcase, but I got my local scooter store to put a Givi sidecase mount on my rear rack so I could put a Givi sidecase from my motorcycle on my People.  Generally, with the universal plates, you'll have to drill a hole or three in the scooter's rack, and usually you want to put some glue or threadlock on the bolts that hold the mounting plate on.  Both for holding fast and for security.  So go with at least red threadlock, and if you don't mind committing to replacing the rear rack if anything goes wrong with the case and plate, you could epoxy it?

Thanks!  Don't have the case yet (appearantly it shipped Monday), but have no problem with drilling the rack if necessary.

I just picked up my new People 150 on Saturday. I had the dealer a SH29 on it. All the parts must of came with it, or else the dealer stocks mounts, because they put it right on for me.

Put the mount that came with the case on the rack...no problems what-so-ever!  Sometimes I just over think things... ::)
