NOS

NOS

It's not NOS. The bottle is empty. It's just sort of a catch can or reservoir of air/fuel. At least that's what "they" say.

maybe a dyno is required to really know if this stuff works.

Invisible rocket fuel?

On rotary valve engines there is a sudden vacuum drop on the carb side. That drop is sucked back into the boost bottle that is mounted facing nozzle down, and when the valve opens that fuel is sucked out into the intake. They work wonders on rotary valve engines. They can add up to 10% more low end torque.
But on reed valve engines they just look cool. Unless Everyone knows they are just glitter... Then you just look stupid.

How about on poppet valve engines? same?

looks cool if you need to show off your scoot.
give people something to talk about.

I always thought a GY6 was a 4 stroke? Boost bottles are for 2 strokes.

Either way those boost bottles look pretty large. The diameter of the bottle cant be larger than 50% of the piston/cylinder.

I'm not sure what a poppet valve engine is.

I didnt really notice he was also talking about a rotary valve design engine. What kind of scooter is using a rotary valve design? My friend owns a few Kawasaki Ke100, and 250s that use that design. Ive never seen a scooter with one. There isnt room between the carb and the side of the block for any boost nipple Id think. Rotary valve is a neat engine style. There are 2 and 4 stroke designs. I work on a lot of rotaries which are another cool engine.
I think a poppet style might be using pistons/ valves driven by cam.

I'm not sure what a poppet valve engine is.

Poppet valve or mushroom valve used in 4-stroke engines. Rotary valve are used in most 2-strokes.

Ah... 4t's... That's what High Rise manifolds do. The extra tunnel length provides "storage" of un used mix. Experimenting with different manifold lengths will give a boost to low end torque. Too long will destroy top end.
This will work MUCH better than a bottle hung in the works. There is not enough time for (intake duration) the bottle to suck up anything (intake closing) on a 4t

Most 2 strokes scooters are reed valve, some older vespas are rotary valve and some german ones Ive seen, but most are reed. How many rotary valve motorcycles or scooters were made? or are still made for that matter I wonder. Our scooters are reed cage at any rate.
In Australia we have a few makers that used them in the 80s, but as the 90s came about it faded as theres no easy way to repair that valve/disc and back fires are devastating to them. I know kawasaki used them for their KE series but not many others followed. Its an easy thing to mod but once you go to far timing is done for.

Yes, high rise plus ram air! So, in short this advertised boost bottle thing is nothing more than an intimidation to those who are ignorant and a laugh to those who know? Hmmm....

how 'bout this bottle?

I have one brother that is a believer in NOS. He adds it to every bike he rides. I think it is a cheat. I'd rather run a blower/turbo for better results. Blowers don't run empty after 40 seconds.

I will strap my girlfriend my scooter and she will last more than 40 seconds and do better job then blower or turbo.............

True that my neighbor has a computer fan he uses in the manafold for a power boost.
just hit a switch and it gos........................

Turbo charging a 2 stroke isnt as good as doing it to a 4 stroke. In terms of longevity, the 2 stroke isnt going to last long. Something the 2 stroke doesnt need, extra heat on the intake, or the exhaust side. And the Exhaust port duration isnt long enough to make real "safe" power.  Ya, if you put enough exhaust gases around the turbine itll spin, but every brap brap brap, causes that mini wheel to stall, it needs a solid flow. Eventually if it was able to spin fast enough it would cause a compressor surge every time you let off the throttle. Im guessing those engines cant get enough gases to keep it spinning to even reach its scope anyways, so compressor surge isnt a real issues as much as extra heat. Ive turbo charged a 90 kaw 600, 96 honda cbr 600, and a 86 cx650. I use garrett T25s .43-.47 a/rs. Ive also turboed several lawnmowers, go karts, and even a log splitter for fun.
It would be neat till it blew up tho!

Question Bro, how about supercharging a 2t? is there such a thing? if not, how about in principle? Supercharging won't rely on your exhaust but "pulley power", so there's no brap brap brap.... and no stalling, right?

I think it would be sweet if a pulley system can be set up, maybe run it off of the front variator. In theory it would work great!
