ok thanks very much,do you know where i can get them i the uk or should i speak to a uk dealer and give that part number? :D and that will defo fit a yup 50 yes?

Not sure about UK as I'm in the US.... I pretty sure that part number is stock for all bearings of that size, Not just limited to kymco. I have a 2001 Yup and that part# matches both my upper and lower as they're the same size. I know Yamaha and Honda use those too. If you google the number, you can find a dealer that sells them in the UK?

Correction: I think it's actually a Honda part number..... And pretty sure Honda use to make Kymco. Either way, That is the correct part# straight out of the Yup Part manual.

Hey Colourcode..... Is your Yup de-restricted or factory? And how much do you weigh and what's your normal top speed?

hi im about 5'8 about 12.5 stone my yup goes between 40 and 50 on the flat depending on how the blocked jet is performing lol as i haven't cleaned it yet as its a bit of a bitch to get the carb off, but i fell off it the other day and now need lots of parts :( inbox me or something mate im sure we can help each other a lot if we both have the same ped and share advice

Hi guys sorry to bring this back up but does anyone know the exact size of the bearings in the the top and bottom of the stem ?
they are ball bearings and if someone can give me the exact size then I can get them from a bearing place instead of buying new :P
are the top bearings the same size as the bottom ones?

Looks like the same part # 96211-05000
I cannot 100% verify size but dizzum28 said 5/32". I replaced the bearings on a different scoot awhile back and cannot recall which size I used...may have been 3/16"? It may come down to you just taking a caliper and measuring your existing bearings. Or try giving Stadium Yamaha a call to see if they can verify for you.

lost all the existing bearings on the bottom set over here :( we work in mm and cm i think they are around 5mm im not sure but surely if they are all the same and roughly the same size as the original then its not going to make a great deal of differece?

I seem to recall they are 5mm...at least the ones on the Chinese clone scoot I replaced them on. If they are 5mm then 3/16" is gonna be the closest. 5/32" is about 4mm. I couldn't find any metric balls readily available here and I had some Std. at work so that is what got used. The top and bottom races use the same size.

THANK YOU SO MUCH YOU FKIN GENIUS! i really needed to know that the top are the same as the bottom so i can just take the top ones into a bearing shop and get a pack of loads lol :D

BY THE WAY, how do i adjust the steering? It's crooked since i fell off ...

No problem! What do you mean the steering is crooked? The handlebars? The stem slides over the top of the fork steer tube with a bolt running through to tighten it down. Check out these parts diagrams you can see how it all works.

so basically i just loosen the bolt on the front and adjust them back? as in the wheel is not straight when the bars are

thats amazing i thought i had to loosen the yokes and all that crap after i fell off :( and the handlebars went not straight :(

May be able to roll the front wheel up to a curb or pole and "smack" it sideways to straighten the bars back out also....I've done that more times than I even know. ;) To replace the headset bearings your going to have to drop the fork and remove the stem and bars anyways, so may as well just deal with it then...
I'm not 100% on the bar weight size and I really don't want to go pull mine out to measure right now. The external bar size is 7/8"/22.2mm so 16mm sounds about right for internal diameter, plus the rubber expands quite a bit when you tighten the screw. Better too small than too big.

all brilliant cheers mate, i think I can get the bearings in without taking it all off using thick grease to seat them until i've finished so instead of giving kymco 50p per bearing ill get a big pack for a couple ££ then sort it all out, will try whacking the wheel but the front mudguard is cracked and could give in!

No worries! I would still recommend dropping the fork and cleaning out both the top and bottom cups and repacking both. You should not be able to get the bearings in without removing/loosening the top race and lockring. To get to those the stem typically needs to be removed and it takes 2 big flat wrenches (something like a 44mm). It's not that difficult, having someone hold the handlebar assembly will help...that way you don't really have to fully disconnect all the wiring and brakes. You just have to pop it up/off and move to the side. Good luck!!!

no thats what I did trying to adjust the steering, I live on a farm so I have a lot of big wrenches for tractors etc, the bottom bolt comes loose when you unscrew the lockring and thats how all the bearings fell out LOL, i should get away with just loosening all the way off then pushing from wheel up and holding it there with something then greasing up and popping in one by one :D
then simply screw the bolt and lockring back down!

It's a bearing cage that is supposed to be in there. If the balls fell out... The bearing is destroyed. Just mike out the size or see if the top bearing is good enough to compare. They're cheap! http://www.partsforscooters.com/ (http://www.partsforscooters.com/) or the local hardware.

I figured they may be caged, although Stadium lists it as 55 individual and not 1...never dropped the fork on my ZX though. The Chinese scoot I did had loose balls...that's how I prefer to run them anyways...less friction! Pun intended ;) If they are caged you can run them loose, you just add a few extra to take up the extra space.
