A couple of weeks ago the fuel gauge on my Explorer had dropped down to 1/4 tank.  So I drove over to Costco (the cheapest gas in town) and filled it up.  I was shocked when the total sale reached $56, so much so that I decided to sell one of our cars, much like Tom Hanks in Larry Crowne, and get a scooter for putting around town.  As a retiree, 99% of my driving is on city streets with speed limits of 45 MPH or less, so a scooter made a LOT of sense to me and the wife.

After researching scooters, I decided the Kymco Super 8 150 or the People 150 would be exactly what I needed.  The Super 8 is a better looking scooter, but the People's 16" wheels are what sold me.  Interestingly enough, there were a number of Super 8's in the local Craigslist, but no People 150's, so I went to the local scooter dealer and purchase a new People @ $2,899 plus tax.  Here's a picture of the scooter with my wife:

It's been a long, long time since I've been on 2 wheels, so I've just been scooting around my neighborhood until I'm more comfortable on the P150.  FWIW, I'm quickly getting used to 2 wheels again!   :)

I have one question - where can I get an inexpensive fabric (no vinyl, nylon, rubber, etc.) cover, hopefully custom fitted for a P150 with factory mirrors?  Amazon or eBay are fine.  Note that I want fabric because here in the Tucson desert, I'll only need to shield the P150 against sun and dust.  Thanks in advance and see you around this forum.

Congratulations MrBill and Welcome!!! For scooter covers, they usually come in S, M, L, XL, etc.  and I don't know if fabric is still being used nowadays. Materials used are polyester, nylon, tyvex, PEVA, or non-woven fabric. You can consider these but prefer a cotton lined cover. Tyvex is the best material but I don't know if they have this for motorcycles/scooters. It's light, breathable, durable and all weather proof.

Welcome! I bought a Nylon cover 4 years ago on ebay for the Florida sun/dust. .99 cents from Hong Kong INCL. SHIPPING. It was one of those auctions that slipped thru the cracks. I still use it every day. I think it cost him $5.27 to post it (minus the 99 cents)

I bought this same cover last week in a different cover.  It shipped and arrived really fast.  Overall, it's a decent cover for the money.  It's pretty thin but does a good job covering the entire scoot.  I'm not sure how water-repellent it is because my seat was wet after a pretty light rain.   Also, the way it fits best for me is to line up the 2 vents with the handlebar grips.  With that setup, it covers the entire scoot easily.

 my bud uses a gas grill cover for his.

it cost 70 bucks, and wont fit under his seat.
my 99 cent nylon one fits in my pocket... mostly

My home is in the Sonora Desert, so rain is not a factor.  The sun is brutal here and I think we must be in the dust capitol of the US, but I think this cover will do the job.

If dust is your enemy, always check your air filter for dust accumulation. Good carnauba wax will also help protect your paint from fading. ;)
