What plug, and what cylinder do you have? Im going to and alwayshave run B8Es or B9ES, but have noticed people here running the HSA style. I know OEM honda is BPR6HSA but thats if you ride like an old fart. Maybe i should change to the HSA style? or even the resisted style hsa? Any input is helpful! Thanks!

The ES plugs have a 3/4" thread insertion...You need the "H" which has a 1/2" thread insertion. With the ES I would think you could potentially hit the end with the piston. I personally run a BR8HIX iridium plug. I've had multiple times that they have proven themselves far superior!
Mass Iridium!!! ;D

I will try these "iridium" plugs for the scoot. My VW and Nissan has them, the VWs were 16.99 my cost, and the nissans are 13.99. I wonder how much these will be. Do you know of anyone whos had damage from the 3/4 shank? Ive ran the ES in 3 builds but no failure yet. That would hurt to have the spark plug do your engine in. Better safe than sorry.

To be honest...I'm really surprised that the ES plugs don't hit the piston at TDC! I get the Iridium plugs from Advance Auto locally. They have to order them, but they are in the next morning at a great price of $6.99! After many spark plug issues in many different machines, the Iridium is by far superior and worth the extra price!

I just painted the tip of a new spark plug with some axle grease installed it, turned the engine over a couple times, than removed the head, nothing on the piston dome. I do run a trailtech vapor CHT sensor so maybe that gives it a mm extra. But no interference.

That's good! I'd still swap for a BR8HIX. If anything the extra 1/4" of insertion into the combustion chamber will raise compression, but may create an un-uniform burn in the chamber.

On the stroked Malossi I DID hit with a BR9HSA. Just enough to close the gap.
The HSA's are working fine for me... I still wish you all a Mass Iridium tho!

Ha wonderful the BR9HSA is not available anywhere Ive called, its a asia/europe part only. I ordered the br8hsa which is part number 5539. Good times annoying the parts people.
-
It is an overseas plug. I still order them from Jiangwayne. Box of 6 for 24.95 shipped

just to but in i have a NGK Iridium IX....havnt got a chance to test it yet as my other parts aint arrived.
-
Zombie-what's the difference with the HSA plug? NGK's chart says that the "A" just means "special design."

Yeah I could never figure that vague description... The HS plug center electrode/insulator sit flush with the end of the threaded case. The HSA has an electrode/insulator that protrude about 1/4" into the combustion chamber to ignite the charge further away from the head at the same heat range. It does make more power. You can actually feel it at take off thru mid range. I found they are too hot for commuting/long WOT so I order the BR9HSA from Taiwan. You can order them in Poland too.
