Title: Sitting for 2yrs, dies at low idle

Just purchased an 06 People250 w/ 4500miles. Previous owner let it sit in garage for 2 years w/o draining fluids. Had 1/8 tank of gas. Runs nice at higher RPM when riding but dies immediately when at stop. Literally just got home with it, have't done anything yet.

Plan on new spark plug, replace dirty air filter and change oil. Besides running fresh gas through to flush it can anyone recommend anymore service or items to check.

I got it for $1500 so even if I need to put some work into it Im happy.

Seafoam in gas tank. Some passages might be gummed or clogged.

I do recall  him saying he put some sea foam in it. How do I clean it out? Can I just run a full tank through it to flush it?

..yeah, just ride!!!...

..seafoam is some good stuff, but two year old fuel is pretty much worthless...should drain that first...

Drain old fuel.  Refill with fresh high octane fuel.  Replace gas filter and maintenance noted above.  I'd also adjust the valves (as noted above) and check the drive belt and do all maintenance suggested on the scoot' with the number of miles it has on it.

UPDATE:

Spark plug looked a bit burnt and darker than what I would like. Have a new one on order. Also ran around neighborhood for 30 miles or so and found that the more new gas I run it with the smoother the idle is getting and the longer it last before dying. I have an appointment to drop it off at a local Kymco dealer for a valve adjustment and carb cleaning. I will do future one's myself but want what I assume is the first such maintenance to be done by someone more experienced then I.

When running at modest speeds on straights she is very nice. I look forward to her runnning smooth and getting ready for the 2014 Scooter Cannonball.

Also posted something new about a worrisome wobble in the front end. Any advice is welcome and appreciated.

Be sure you get some fresh oil in the crankcase as well.

If you are going to Cannon ball I would suggest doing the carb work yourself. Take it apart, and clean it. Don't just look, and say ok.... Take out every part, and use Brake Clean to blow out the jets/passages. The dealer will hit you for 200.00 bucks plus or minus, and you still will know nothing about it. I use sewing needles/torch tip cleaners to clear the jets.
I answered your other post too. It will be MUCH easier for everyone if you get your answers on one thread, and let one die.
There are loads of Youtube videos on GY6 Carb. cleaning for a guide.

FINAL UPDATE:
Carb clean and valve adjustment complete. She starts and runs like a new machine. Since there was only 1/8 tank left in for the 2 years I decided not to dump it out but instead have run 2 full tanks through it which made some improvement. Spark plu actually looks decent. Oil and fuel filter change are tomorrow.
