Title: 2008 Kymco Super 9 LC 50 2T vs 2012 Agility?
Post by: Japennell on April 24, 2012, 05:36:17 PM
Hello.  A local dealer just got some 2008 Kymco Super 9 LC 50 2T and is selling them for $999.  They seem to have 8-12k miles.

I understand the liquid cooled is a good thing.  However, I am concerned about the 30 day warranty and the mileage when compared to a new agility with 2 year and well, low to no miles.

What are some of the things I should weigh?

Is the 2008 Kymco Super 9 LC 50 2T a much faster scooter?

Any input would be appreciated.

I own a 2008 agility and ive been happy with it. I got it when it had 8-9000km on it and had just turned 3yrs old for £380 in the UK. Why not buy a 2nd hand Agility if the price is better, with 1-2000km on it?

I have to say i do kinda wish i went with a 2 stroke, especially uphills, but it all depends what kind of riding and mileage you intend to do really.

If the scoots have been serviced regularly etc they should be good for at the very least 20,000-30,000km without much trouble apart from normal wear and tear issues which are easily and cheaply fixed. Do they have stamped service books etc?

My a50 now has nearly 20,000km and is still going great btw.

I plan on using my scooter primarily to and from work 23 mile round trip.  Some hills.  I wanted to be able to go 35 -45 mph and get as close to 100mpg as possible.

I do know these scooters where bought from Martha Vinyards.  So they were rentals.  Kind of scary...

I do 20 miles every day to work and i can do Monday to Friday on one tank of gas. My route is flats and hills and  I average about 70-72 km/hr on level ground on my derestricted agility. Unless you tune them a bit they tend to be a bit sluggish uphill, mine used to drop to 15-20 on steep hills till i sorted out a few simple and cheap mods on the cvt, now i get up hills at 38-40mph or 30mph if its steeper, if its real real steep i may still drop to nearer 20 unless i get a run at it, but thats only on a real steep one.

The 2 stroke motors will have more torque generally so be better up hills but it depends how hilly your route is i suppose.

On the rental bikes, if i owned a rental company i would keep my bikes serviced regularly and be making sure i kept them running tip-top to make sure i would get my income from them. It all depends if it was a reputable hire shop or some cheapo back street place, if they took care of them and serviced them regularly they should be fine i guess.

Saying that, theres nothing like a brand new toy straight out the wrapper?  :)

I thought Kymco stopped making the S9 LC in '05 or '06, right?  S9 AC started in '07, right?

Rentals may be much better than a stranger. You KNOW they were maintained, AND they will still be restricted so they were Never ran into the ground.
You have the Holy Grail of S9's my friend. Buy a few if you can (for a package price) and advertise them on several forums at 1'500.00
