I know the GT is new and most have not put on enough miles to get into belt and roller weight replacement but, is a variator wrench available for the GT and Downtown?.
I`m speaking of the gismo that holds the variator still so one can use a torque wrench to properly torque the variator nut, "driving pully lock wrench".
Some use a screw driver placed through the fins on the variator but, quite often end up breaking a fin.
I have a low power 12v electric torque wrench but, when torquing, I would prefer to torque by hand.

boo, i have used a impact wrench for years on lots of variator and clutch nuts.
use same power setting you use to remove nuts when putting nuts back on. that sounds silly but it works.

I made mine and use the same one for both my people S 125 and my DT300I. JUst put sliders in last week. Haven't been able to tell how they are working as I have had 40-60 K winds all week. Really blows the gas milage away.

I got one and had to very slightly grind the pegs smaller. Now it works great. Also you might have to file out any slag aluminum in the two variator holes if they didn't do a good job of it at the factory but that's a minor job with a rat tail file taking 5 min.
Assuming the 300's variator has the same holes as the rest.

I personally would not be comfortable using an impact wrench to put the nut back on. You can damage the shaft. The impact wrench will get the nut off ok, but torqueing down the nut is easy, with a wheel on the ground, to proper spec. I am sure the impact wrench WILL get the nut back on, but it is not ideal.
I have seen too many untrained kids at oil change places and tire shops do serious damage to different machines by putting nuts or bolts on with an impact wrench. It is far too easy to over torque.
I know a lot of scooter riders use low powered 12v impact wrenches to tighten the variator nut. Most of the time without problems.
I prefer to gently torque it on with a torque wrench.
If someone has a shop manual for the GT or Downtown, it usually gives a picture and part number for the driving pully lock wrench.
The part number and price is what I was looking for.
I like to use the right tool for the job.
Stripping the threads on the variator shaft would be a pisser.

I found a cam holding tool at princes auto canada. $14. 95 I had to grind the pegs down to fit the holes in the variator,. or you can make your own, one piece 14 inches and one piece 5 inches two bolts that fit in the variator and one to hold the two pieces together to make a Y

Motorandy123, It has been a while since I posted this.
I made myself a variator and clutch holding tool.
1/4" aluminum stock
Will give it a try at 8,000-10,000
We have two scooters in the family. Hope it will work on both.
