i needed to fill up oil and looked in book and it didnt say anything about what kinda of oil appart from engine oil! i put this stuff in bike (see pic) and i did spill some on pipes leading to exaust when poring in this was last night! today when i drove bike for 10 mins and parked up there was smoke coming off the warm pipes where oil was spilled! is this normal / ok? i was worried at first but then started to think maby its fine its possibly just burning off the oil on pipes
-
Yes the smoke is normal as it burns the oil you spilt of the hot exhaust done it a few times. My manual says either 10w40 or 15w40 i use 10w40 as its a little thinner when cold so flows better good for them cold winter mornings, also you will find 10w40 are usualy better oils more likely to be synthetic etc....

ok i will keep that in mind in future but is it ok that iv put this oil in mine

+1.
I shake like I have tremors, so I've spilled my share of oil droplets on mufflers throughout my riding span. It will occassionally get you when you're like "Why am I burning oil? WTF?!" :D
Oil grade/brand seems to be up to the user. And though many have their own opinions, I would do your research and use a blend of your newly gained knowledge from self-education along with others experiences.
Good Luck!

5w40 is more suited to modern engines that are better machined or where the engine operates in cold climates and needs a thin oil so it flows better but im sure it would be fine just for topping up.....
This is the oil i like to use but as (passedbyascooter) says many have there own preferences/opinions
