Title: Why won't my seat open???
Post by: Hurricane*Sara on April 05, 2012, 09:55:46 PM
What am I doing wrong?  I push and turn the key to the left....and....nuttin' happens.
I've opened it before and had no problems.

That keyplate thingie is a PITA, BTW.  You can barely read the lettering on it.  I'm still trying to figure out what the two position are at the farthest left.

And I presume there is not a way to manually open the seat, since, well, I guess that would negate the security feature of having a key.  Or is there?

TIA

Hi Sarah-mine also grew reluctant to pop open, and here is what helps.  Turn the key to the unlock position after the ignition has been on,and put a little lube on the latch.  That teeny bit of lube made all the difference. Good luck! :D

...i'm not familiar with the gv250, but if there issa cable from keyslot, to seat latch, a good tug on the cable might release the latch...

...i've done that on my a50 before, when i locked my keys in the seat...

peace

PS-the position all the way to the left will lock the forks,if you have them turned to the farthest left you can steer them..

Thanks, everyone.

The seat finally decided to open  ???  So while I had it open, I sprayed it with some dry silicone lube.  Now it seems to be working fine.

Another one of those little mysteries, solved -- sort of.

I appreciate the help!

Check the screws on the latch under the seat. I had them loosen up to the point one fell out and I barely go the seat open.
