Post by: gazza1989 on March 25, 2012, 03:45:01 PM
iv been continuing my sat nav research and been told tom tom isnt ideal due to short battery life but i found this product

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/070708/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHome+entertainment+and+sat+nav%7C14419512/c_2/2%7C14419512%7CSat+nav%7C14419661.htm#pdpFullProductInformation (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/070708/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHome+entertainment+and+sat+nav%7C14419512/c_2/2%7C14419512%7CSat+nav%7C14419661.htm#pdpFullProductInformation)

does anyone know anything which would mount this tom tom below to my bike?

What about this type of case

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Motorcycle-Bike-Cycle-GPS-Satnav-Case-Mount-Waterproof-UK-/270929089022?pt=UK_CE_GPS_Accessories_Software_ET&hash=item3f14a1d1fe (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Motorcycle-Bike-Cycle-GPS-Satnav-Case-Mount-Waterproof-UK-/270929089022?pt=UK_CE_GPS_Accessories_Software_ET&hash=item3f14a1d1fe)

Also if you are going to wire that cable up to your scoot why not try fitting a 12v socket instead then you can use the supplied car charger and also use the socket to charge your mobile etc

Why i did like the tom tom one when i had my car and rated it as a good sat nav i do now prefer the garmin as the better battery life and slightly easier to use although both systems are straight forward, they are both good sat navs but one other problem i had with the tom tom and my father and law said the same if you charge and then store the tom tom for a few days or more it drains the battery as if it never really seems to fully turn off but this is not really a problem if you are going to charge and use at the same time and use it reguarly as leaving the battery low/flat for weeks at a time will shorten the batt life, my garmin i have left for 2 weeks and when i turn it on it still has full charge but im sure you will be happy with either as long as you can attach it securely to your scoot......

the thing is tho with that sat nav holder i cant figure out where it would be able to fit on the kymco agility  ???

and with the 12V cigarette lighter i dunno where that could possibly sit also!

someone tell me if this would work? if i got a satnav which fits in my pocket and it has a headphone socket would that work? if someone with a satnav would possibly test that for me that would be great because i dunno it it would still get the correct directions or if it would know which driection i was facing

Yes it would get a signal in your pocket and know which direction you are traveling but the only one i know which has a headphone socket is medion go pal which was a good sat nav in its day and the plus side was it took 4 x AA batteries so if you put a good set of rechargeable in there it would last nearly all day the only place you will find one of them now is used on ebay. Tom tom do a dedicated motorbike sat nav but i think its expnsive uses a bluetooth in ear for sound but i think you have to buy that seperate but you can pick up bleutooth headsets for as little as a fiver.....
