Title: turn signalsinstalled in the body
Post by: warriorboxerdog on February 29, 2012, 06:46:30 PM
I want to install the turn signals next to the brake lights. On the super 8 there is a spot where it looks like turn signals but its fake. I was thinking of installing some orange turn signal bulbs in there in the rear and in the front. I have seen people that have done it online but I don't know where they got the light bulb sockets at. I tried a local motorcycle shop that sells scooter (there parts guys blew me off) I looked at advanced auto and found nothing, I tried a trailer lights shop and nothing. I looked online as well. If you have done this pleas tell me how and where you got the parts at please.

I took the sockets out of the stalks. Does yours have the square cross looking holes in the body for the sockets?
If so the side marker sockets from any early1990's Gm will fit. http://www.amazon.com/Marker-Lights-Socket-Assembly-12083460/dp/B0040D2TO8 (http://www.amazon.com/Marker-Lights-Socket-Assembly-12083460/dp/B0040D2TO8)

I'm considering LED's for those same locations. Less power required and likely less drilling/ cutting to make it work.

Thanks wordslinger. I've been reading and learning much on here since buying my Super 8 recently. While motorcycles aren't new to me, 2-strokes, variators and CVTs are. Those lights are just one thing on the to-do list after the de-restrict. If  find anything I'll post it. This place has potential. There are some 12V mini indicator lights there that look good:

Yep, you spelled it right. Just a play on my initials GW.

I had the local LT. do my radar run. They all get a kick out of my bikes.

It's different down here.
Remember when I first started posting? I hated this place but now I will never leave. I actually haven't left town here in a few years except for one weekend about a month ago...

Are you keeping the bulbs tightly in the dummy slots or is the socket hanging loose with the bulb holding it in?

Don't let the bulb hang there. Forget the Duct Tape too.

I'd love to see how the bulbs are held into the sockets etc. Want to do the same myself. No bending the signals when struggling to get the scooter up on 2 pegs on the plank I have in the yard.

It is a very clean Mod. One of the nicest free things you can do to a US bike.

The only potential problem is if the bike is ever involved in an accident. Insurance won't pay because the Mod is NOT DOT approved
