I just bought a new 2009 250ri and was irritated that every time I wanted to get off the bike to shut the garage door etc. the bike would cut off. I opened the screw cover that rests between your feet to investigate the wiring and discovered a prewired plug that was not being used. By simply unplugging the existing wires(with the same size fitting) and plugging into the unused harness the problem was solved. Now its great to start the bike and let it warm up with the kickstand down.

What's wrong with using the center stand? I see your point but the problem with using the kickstand is you can not use the throttle to rev the RPM's, i.e. it's cold outside and you need to give it just a little goose to idle smooth.

I'd rather just remove the sidestand and the parking brake hardware - I never use either of them.

Yesterday I went to put my 250 on the center stand to warm it up before riding and I almost dropped the thing. The ground was a little slippery from rain as were the hand grips. Luckily I saved it. I think I'd rather warm up on the side stand as well and then if it goes to stall out at the end of the high idle I can just sit on it and goose with the throttle. I find it's a pretty heavy scoot for the center stand. The best practice would probably be to centerstand it after riding so its ready next time I start but I'm usually just trying to get my Whataburger inside and eatan as soon as possible before I take time for such things... to the point that I left my ignition key in the scooter overnight once. Glad it was still there the next day.
