Title: flaty tire

yesterday i was driving with my mum driving behind me in her car, when we got to are destination, she told me that my back wheel was flat so i went a pumped it up in sainsburys, when i got home again it was flat! :( now i have to wait till thursday to get my new tyre and get it fitted! pretty gutted going back on the bus :(

beleave it or not I have been rideing with a patched tire for about a year now. I patched it with the black liqued silacasket that stuff works good.

In our country, we have lots of roadside tire repair or what we call "vulcanizing shops" in the city or even around countrysides. Flats are not a problem. When your ride gets a flat tire, ask a by-stander for the nearest shop and for sure he can direct you.

I always carry a tire plug kit with me.  It's not meant as a permanent repair but will keep you from getting stranded.

My zx50 ran for nearly 12 months with a plugged tyre.

I also have a plugged rear tire. 4 months now. Riding my scoot 30 miles a day, 7 days a week with a back rider. The plug is not even the proper one but a make shift. Strips of rubber dipped in used oil stuffed into the puncture. Done by a roadside "tire master".

I put 14000 miles on a plugged rear tire on a Yamaha Venture 1200.  I wouldn't ride on a plugged front tire very long but would consider doing it again on a rear tire.  BTW, the best plugs out there are the cheap sticky strings available at any auto parts store or Wal mart.

Not the best of repairs, but plugs certainly are a good fix to get out of trouble, and going by the comments here, they are known to last.
