Title: what is the screw on the exhaust pipe?

i noticed a screw on my exhaust pipe, so i took it out and started my engine and it sounded loud, will this damage my moped? because it didnt sound right or does it bypass the restrictor in the exhaust, thanks

Yeah as blue says it for checks. They stick a probe in it to check the exhaust gases i think.
