I picked up a Battery Tender Junior for my People S 125 scooter and it does a great job for under $30. I also have a CTEK Multi US 3300 charger that I use on my Harley battery. This one is more expensive but offers a few more options.

I use a regular Battery Tender but the junior will work just fine too. In the fall I remove the batteries from my bikes, bring them inside, and clean the terminals with a battery cleaner (I use Permatex). Since I have one charger and three batteries, most of the time the batteries just sit on a bench not connected to anything. Once a month I top off each one with the battery tender, one at a time. In the spring I top off the battery one last time, apply corrosion preventative to the terminals and put it in the bike.

Not all chargers should be connected all the time but the Battery Tender can be used this way if you want to do that.

my charger is both a charger and a battery tender it well charge the battery to full charge then it well just keep the battery at a holding charge. You can charge up 2 batterys at ounce. works great for boat batterys.that needs a lower charge. it well do 2-4-6 amps.

I got my last units at Walmart for under $20!  They're made by Schumacher and called an "Automatic Battery Charger"
Model XM1-5 and work the same way as a Battery Tender as far as maintaining a charge.  I've been using them for
over 15 Years on the Harleys and various other toys.  The nice thing is when I've gone to get another one they
had always added new features.  They come complete with cables to hook to your battery and also alligator clips.
A pretty nice package for under $20!

Thanks Oldie I bought the Schumacher you talked about and works great..

Anyone with a Downtown have this already on theirs?

I was wondering what this was when I got the bike and after I bought the charger found out it was a quick disconnect harness.. Saved me from removing everything to install the one that came with the charger..  :)

Glad to hear that you found one at Wally-World!  Finding the disonnect plug made that job a lot easier.
Good Luck!!

I wonder if my Yager has that plug.  It would make things easier.  Does anyone know?
