Hey Guys... Who knows these vacuum carbs! I just bought a POS Verucci w/ a gy6 50. Rebuilt the carb, 1 kick to start, but it will NOT rev over hi idle, While running I can remove the top cap, and pull the slide/diaphragm, and it will continue to idle!!!!!!I know how to clean the jets soooooooo?????? Any Ideas?
-
I'm assuming the carb is clean then. Fuel filter in good shape? Check the spark plug. Checl the current flowing to the electric choke also.
What happens when you give it throttle is it just bogging down or stalling?
-
that sounds like the same thing that happen to me check to see if the slide is seating its self all the way down you may have something stoping it from going all the way down or if the slide gets bent in the littlest way it well not work right. gy6 carbs are good but yet very touchie

Thanks for responding guys. YYYYYOOOOO Blue! Wazzz Upppp! I elimenated all those items you both suggested. To answer this...What happens when you give it throttle is it just bogging down or stalling? Yes. I would think it would either die out or run like a raped ape w/ the slide out. But it has no effect at all.
-
I would be surprised that it runs at all without the slide, but, to go back a bit, there was a zx with a similar problem, he could open the throttle fully and the scoot just idled. Turned out his cdi was cactus. Not saying this is your problem, but maybe something to look at.

You know what? I remember that one. I think I bet the farm it was the carb, and lost. Next stop...Fleabay. I LOVE YA Sid. (in a manly non gay sort of way)

Geeze mate, I'm all upside down here. :) That is a cheap cdi, almost as cheap as my $10+8 shipping TZR50. That little bugger fixed all my starting problems.
Just had another read through robmsx's thread, that certainly was a weird situation, good to be able to remember these things.

1+1=... Where is the calculator button?

You know the one thing I forgot was the butterfly. The 2t slide carbs don't have one. I guess that prevents the effects I anticipated. I will let you all know in a few days. Hope the hoity toidys dont come down here. Look at my new calf skin seat, and matching Gucci kick start cover...

wana try something interresting dont put the slider in the carb and run it like that. I ran my gy6 like that for about a week untell I got a new carb.
-
What is the result? Screaming lean I imagine! Well to finish this thread I worked on the POS today to inspect/tweak/repair everything else. In removing the carb to gain access I noticed water droplets when I pulled the fuel line. The scoot sat for 3-4 years before me, so of course I drained all the fluids first, and did not realize the tank was rusted inside. When I poured in fresh fuel it released the water from the rust, of course letting it settle to the carb. As the main jet is lower in the bowl the fuel was floating high enough to reach the idle jet, and as I applied throt. I was pulling water into the main jet. A little muriatic acid wash of the tank, seal the metal w/polyurethane, new gas, and tada! Anyone need an unrestricted cdi?
-
Muriatic acid huh?... Dam i need some of that stuff
IS the cdi for that scoot?... I actually may need one of those. ;D I suck at any electrical crap
(i'm hoping to revive a gy6, so i can get a hyosung 2t)(it's fkd of course but did run... :D)

I was able to cancel the order as he did not ship it yet. It is for all gy6 base engines regardless of what frame it is in. As for the acid you can get it a most hardware stores/ home centers but BE CAREFULL! The fumes alone can burn you bad enough for an EXTENDED stay at the hospital. It is about $4.00 a gallon, and 1 drop is strong enough to burn thru a new tank in a hour or so. I used 3 oz., and rolled it around the bottom of the tank for 45 seconds to 1 minute. Hose it out well, and reseal w/ 2 part fuel proof urethane. I use Awl-Grip.
