Title: 09 Agility 50 easy chop job mudgaurd
Post by: EcafRuoy on September 15, 2011, 12:56:20 AM
Cut out 4" of the middle and aluminum rivets to mate the two ends. About two+ inches of overlap and foam rubber sheet between the two. I like the staggered look and feel it sports up the bum of my bike.

Super easy to do in an hour with a shop environment at your disposal.

Nice job!

Can you take a pic a little further back and of the whole rear end? I wanna see what it looks like as a whole on the bike, would appreciate it!

Thinkin about makin that mod myself.

Looks good.  I took my mud flap off, intending to do something similar.  After seeing yours, I think I'll do mine the same way.

Nice subtle mod not sure if it is personally worth the effort but adds a sporty touch.

Nice! Im diggin the old school rat bones sticker. Skate or die! Lol. I chopped my rear mud gaurd off completely. Looks alot better without it. Ive hacked out a few unwanted plastic bits on my scoot.

For you guys that lost the mud guard altogether, where are you displaying your license plate/sticker?

Here in North Carolina 50cc scoots and smaller do not need to be registered, require no insurance or drivers license.

Right now it is rigged with a wire coat hanger looping through the plate and then through the two holes in the middle at the top of the mud guard. The hanger is twisted underneath to hold it and you can't see it.  It's what I had available since I was out of zip ties. The plate sits side ways. so you would read it top to bottom.

I plan on one of two things.  Either making a piece the plate can sit on normal and letting the piece have bolt holes that line up with the back of the scoot.  Or drilling new hols in the scoot that match with the plat sitting side ways.

With the guard missing if the plate is normal the holes that held the guard on are closer together than the holes of the plate.  and with the plate sidesways the holes are just barely to far apart.

I have riding like it is for a few months with no issues.

In Michigan we have something like 10" stickers we have to display which I need a long flat surface to put it on. Makes it hard to do any kind of mod to the reaer mudflap.

I've seen people stick them on the side plastics of their bike perpendicular to the gas tank but it seems a bit risky as far as the legalty goes to me...

Yeah.  In FL we get the same plates as Motorcycles would get.

The riveted look has got my imagination going. I think over the winter I'm gonna take on a custom project inspired by the Vought F4U Corsair:
