Title: oil change for new dt 300i
Post by: roboscoot on September 10, 2011, 04:24:28 PM
just want to make sure i am reading and understanding the maintenance chart (page 29-owners manual correctly).I am at about 450 km on the scooter at this point....it says to change which ever comes first (km or miles)....

for km at 1000
for mileage 1000x .6 or 600 miles if i an reading the chart correctly

I am trying to get a filter for the scooter and finding it hard ...the dealer does not even have
I have heard of merits of using synthetic oil....and wondering if there are any down sides to this

Finally,i figured on changing the plug to an iridium type plug when i change the oil and filter....anyone have a particular plug /manufacturer and number i can request that of course can be used in the 300?

appreciate your feedback...thanks robo/bob

Was wondering, what if i choose to use CR8EIX or CR9EIX instead. What are the difference besides the heat range? Performance? Thanks ???

Not sure if it would change perfornace oother than if the plug was running too cool or hot. Once you have soem miles pull the plug and check out the color. There are plenty of guides available on the net...............

I am surprised that no one has figured out an automotive equivalent that can be used.  Or is there something special about a scooter engine???

If you change the heat range on the plug to something not called for by Kymco and you have an engine problem they will not fix it under warranty. I believe it says this in your manual. It does in mine.

Sorry, I should have clarified: I'm surprised that no one has figured out the automotive equivalent of the *oil filter.

i guess you are saying if you have a problem with the engine you better put back the original plug?

well i may be dumb.....but doesn't the plug that came with the scooter in the correct heat range?.....or are you saying the iridium replacement would not be covered?
