Title: Rear Brake Sqeak/Squeal

I'm sure most of us have had that annoying rear drum brake squeal upon stopping.  But I'd like to find a solution, if one even does exist.  My S200 only has 1200 miles on it, so I'm pretty sure nothing is worn or out or sorts like the shoes or lining.

Does anyone have a fix for this, I don't mind servicing the entire back of the bike if I have to.  TIA.

You will need to remove the back wheel to get at the brake.
Use brake cleaner to clean all the surfaces and parts.
I did this recently with my Super 8 and it did the trick.

Hi Steve;

Thanks for the reply.  Should one clean all interior brake parts with cleaner, like the lining, shoes, and cam?

Looks like from the service manual for the S200, I'll have to remove some of the frame cover to access bolts for the muffler assembly.  Is that what you did?  Thanks.

Take some 400 grade sandpaper to the pad and mating drum surfaces to remove any glaze that they have, then clean them and everything inside the drum with brake cleaner.  Dry it with a low lint rag (old cotton T-Shirt) and put it back together.  Don't dry it with paper towels because they leave too much behind.
