I'm curious to know what others use to keep their scooters safe. I'm planning to use mine to commute to work in the summer to the downtown core and have two security locks that I plan to use. One is the Grip-Lock from Australia http://www.grip-lock.com/ (http://www.grip-lock.com/) and the other the Mini Grip from California Immobilizer http://immobilize.com/mini-grip.htm. (http://immobilize.com/mini-grip.htm.) What are you using?

Yeah - but around here they just lift it up and toss it into the back of a truck, or for the larger ones they push it over onto a flatbed trailer. I prefer to just have good insurance.

For my Super 8 150, I use a disc lock and I also lock the handlebars.

I have insurance as well, but if the worse happens and my scooter is hauled away I can al least say that I took precautions. I also lock the steering but don't believe this to be too secure. Hopefully, having taken some action they will pay any claim.

I depend on the steering lock and insurance. The l ock you have on the rear wheel looks pretty secure. But I just think if they can defeat my steering lock or lift it into a truck, another lock will not stop them. Insurance is the best security.

That secure the scooter with to an 'n' shaped back rake. My scooter's 300 pounds, so if anyone want to toss it into a truck they'd need a cutting
torch to do it.

I always use the steering lock, but, frankly they're rubbish.
Then I add either a disk lock, although I'm told these are easy to get off, or an Oxford chain, which has the advantage of being able to link through lamp posts and the like, depending on which I have in the boot at the time.
The Downtown is a little large for a 14 year old to drive away easily without falling off, and it's also a little heavy to pick up with less than 3 blokes, so I'm fairly certain that if it was pinched, it would be a serious theft, and to be honest, there's no accounting for that so I've gone about as far as I can.
Alarms are useless, they don't scare anyone, and an immobilizer is easy to get round if you know what you're doing.
However, with only 28 in the whole country, it shouldn't be too difficult for plod to find it, if they go to the trouble to look out for it in the first place. What state it would come back in, of course, is questionable.

I ride my S200 to work and use a multitude layers of security.
1.) Lock the handlebars.
2.) Use a disc lock.
3.) Self installed an alarm from Gorilla, about ~$85 on Amazon.
4.) Wrap the back wheel with a heavy duty cable and lock to a pole in the parking lot.
Maybe a bit on overkill, but at least would-be thieves will give it a look an say forget it.

I also have a disc lock so like you I'd have the steering lock, disc brake lock, throttle lock and the rear tire lock. Theives would have to pick it up to steal it. Can't imagine it'd be worth the effort for a small 125 scooter though.

I use a heavy duty hardened chain and lock through my both wheels and onto any street furniture around. Way i figure it, if they want it so bad to go thro all the hassle of cutting thro it without being seen, they are welcome to it ;D
