Title: Coolant

So I've been bad and have never changed the coolant in my '06 P250.  I aim to do this within the week.  I read in the manual that it wants KYMCO SIGMA coolant mixed with distilled water at a concentration of 30%.  I was just going to get some 50/50 green coolant from the auto store and use it, but I figured I'd ask the community if they had any strong opinions about this.  Thanks and remember to spread your legs while scootin' in this heat!

You can do that but make sure you get a coolant that contains no silicates! it will say on the bottle!!

Don't believe the green coolant will be good for it.

Prestone 50/50 is what I used too.  Working well for over a year now.  If I remember correctly, it says on the bottle it does not have silicates.

I climbed 1000 feet with my wife on the back yesterday evening - temp never got above halfway and the fan kicked on to bring it down perfectly.  Curious why I keep having to top off the radiator and it doesn't seem to be pulling from the reserve tank... Anyone know why?

MOTORCYCLE/SCOOTER COOLANT AND AUTO COOLANT ARE DIFFERENT.  YOU WANT A 50/50 PREDILUTED SCOOTER COOLANT.

It's probably still getting some trapped air out of it's system.  That should stop after you top off a few more times.

Silica free antifreeze, automotive or otherwise.  Check all of your hoses while you are at it.
Flush the system with distilled water and radiator flush (optional, water alone will do an ok job).
If you like to spend a lot for fancy racing motorcycle fluids, it won't hurt your bike, just your wallet. 
50/50 mix unless you are operating in extreme conditions.

Oops, I wish I had seen this thread earlier.  My scooter is overheating, I topped off the reserve with a store brand 50/50, just checked, the bottle says "low silicate product".  Hmmmmmmm........ is "low" okay?

In the short term, you will be fine.  In the long term, you may be getting some corrosion.
Go for the non-silicate on your next flush and fill.

Are you still over heating with a top off?
