Title: just when will 2012 kymco scooters /300 downtown be available
Post by: roboscoot on July 17, 2011, 05:07:17 AM: anybody (esp north east) have any idea when the 2012 scooters will be ready for distribution and at dealer show rooms?
i ask this as i am getting mixed messages from dealers i have spoken to and want to buy as local as i can.....contacted kymco usa and got two different answers......would be interested in knowing what you folks are hearing and if anyone got their hands on a 2012 not 2011,,,,,,

Post by: roboscoot on July 19, 2011, 01:33:00 AM: interesting makes me think that they ship by model as this morning i learned from kymco info that the new downtowns will be shipping end of july.....and after prep/testing would go to new jersey dealers end of august.....strange as it may seem i was told only 25 dealers total pre-ordered the 300 downtowns...fortunately for me a few of these are in my general area....

when they say pre-order they mean were ordered in early 2012......dealers will have an opportunity to re -order but pre-ordered dealers are taken care of first....until new shipment arrives....who knows when the next shipment after this month will be....

I ended up deciding against the super 8. I went for a Piaggio MP3 400 instead. It's hot!

There are great deals from Piaggio right now in an attempt to blow out old models.

Did they have the front fork seals/bearings issue ("the notch") fixed by 2008?

the notch may or may not happen on 2008 models. I know it does't happen on all of them. That said, Piaggio should now be taking care of this on your first or second service. But you may need to muster up some proof to bring into the shop.

the issue happens when the bearing is overpacked at the factory. I got a deal on an 09.

Post by: roboscoot on August 14, 2011, 04:50:14 AM: hey all...i guess i will be ending this loop i started by simply stating...the new model downtown has arrived...in jersey at least.... and i will be going to the dealer Tuesday..to commence paperwork the.. prep, title and such should take another week or so but no later than labor day......plan to familiarize myself with it for a while before i consider any mods.....i got it in white......thinking about leds and a top box......however.....

Post by: Scooterbird on August 16, 2011, 01:48:25 AM: I noticed this weekend that some east coast PowerSports vendors are advertising the People and Downtown GTi's now, so they must be slowly arriving at dealers.... FINALY!!!! I'd swear I saw one one on the street today in Tucson, but according to "the web", the closest dealer with 2012 inventory is Costa Mesa, CA. (about 7 hr from here).
