Title: Standard weight of sliders in variator 2009 super 8 150
Post by: rperry on July 07, 2011, 03:09:16 PM
Hi help how much do factory stock sliders or rollers weigh on 2009 Kymco Super 8 150.

The answer seems to be 12g anybody disagree ?.

I went ahead and put in Dr Pullet Sliders, Dr Pulley 12 g Slider weights.
Clutch arm springs, 3 yellow and Main Clutch big spring yellow.

Let you know how it turns out.

Boy the first thing i notice is the smoothness of the clutch engaging. It feels silky smooth.
I will report on the variator when i drive cross town tomorrow. A good upgrade for the money so far ?.

I don't know.

Take 'em out and weigh 'em then let us know.

Hey rperry,

Any update on the performance? Better top speed or acceleration?
Did you weigh your original rollers?

Thanks!

I know the standard weight for the Agility city r16 (kL25B engine, Super 8 125 is KL25, Super 8 150 is KL30) are 13g, i imagine they are the same.

Hi Kevin
Replaced with yellow, the Clutch Main Spring. Three Clutch Arm Springs.
3 Sliders and Weights in variator. 12 gram was what i took out and 12 gram was what i replaced. I used DR Pulley.
Top Speed is 65 on the speedo on the scooter. I was in 55 mph traffic and catching them easily.

Hi the weights just don't cost that much, so i went with the standard 12 gram. I feel it smoothed everything up. Take off mid range and pickup. I was happy with the results. I am mostly in 45 mph traffic, occasionally into 55 mph traffic.
If i wanted a faster machine i would have bought a bigger sized scooter. A Super 8 150 is good value for the money.

Hi sorry i almost forgot ?. There seems to be some belt slap at certain times of acceleration. I took the cover off and watched. The belt where it feeds out of the variator, on the bottom slaps a bit. I guess it is the bigger clutch spring making it a bit harder to open the clutch pulley up. So i think the belt is a little loose on the outfeed from the variator.
Any thoughts on the matter ?.

It's quite normal for the belt to slap around, when it's not under tension. If you're not happy with it you could fit a kevlar belt but the size is critical, a bit small and it will snap!
