Title: 80 cc hiting rev limiter??
Post by: 808Hawaiian on June 25, 2011, 03:56:20 AM
So check this out i just put in a 80 cc airsol cylinder. My stock jet was an 82 and my pilot was 35. Now its a 100 main and 42 pilot. Im now running K&N air filter but i dont really know how to tell if im running to lean or to rich. I also have a leo vince exhaust and derestricted drive boss. Along with a stock cdi but i cut the rev limiter.
My problem is when i get to 40 mph it hits rev limiter. Im thinking i might need a race cdi but im not sure.
If anyone could help me out that would be awesome! Mahalos

that's what mine has been doing look up plug chops on google or search them here there's a system for checking your mixture at different throttle positions. let us know if you end up getting that race cdi i thought i fixed mine by letting it flow some extra air but it just raised the point at which it hit what seems like a rev limiter, through some transmission tuning i've got mine hitting 54 gps downhill but then it hits that limiter

it's a way of "reading" your spark plug, to do it correctly you have to use a plug then cut the threads off of it and "read" the color of the ceramic but if you have a good white light you should be able to read the plug without doing this, though it takes much longer for the exposed end to change colors than the base. hope this helps but I am no expert in plug chopping :D
