Is it OK to use gasket sealer on the crankcase cover (kickstart cover)? The rubber gasket on it is misshaped and protruding and I'm getting a drop or 2 of oil. I ordered a race variator and it will be here tomorrow and I did'nt think ahead of time to order a gasket and I want to install it and try it right away. Has anyone used it or have an opinion? Thanks

It's ok by me.
I used black loctite for car engine.
Apply a thin layer on the cvt cover, put all 8mm screws and let it dry for 15-30 mins. Remove sealant residue from screw threads.
After it hardens and forms rubber like seal, install it
I also apply some motor oil on rubber spacers on cover bolts

There shouldn't be any oil in your cvt.

I'm not sure where the oil is coming from,I get a drop or 2 on the back rim and once in awhile on the sidewalk when I park. Maybe I'll try the black loctite if no one has any better suggestions Thank you

if you're getting some oil on the back rim and sidewalk when parked, it could be final reduction gears oil leak.
it has nothing to do with cvt cover gasket.
Check transmission oil level. maybe it's too high, and if so, it might be leaking

With my zx50, I cut a new gasket from paper (the stock one was paper) and used a silicone sealant (ultra blue) on one side only to glue it to the cover, not the crankcase. The next time I removed the cover, I trimmed the gasket with a craft knife.
