I have never seen anything mentioned about lubricating the variator. Of course, it goes without saying that lube should NOT get on the Belt or Pulleys - but what about all the sliding-parts, sleeves, gears, Bendix, etc. Would a Dry_Lube such as molybdenum-disulfide be recommended ? Perhaps the moving parts in the Variator are dry and need no lubricants ?

There is a special grease for certain old varios. Never varios are already build of dry lubricating material (where important, probably not the rarely used bendix).
And the end gear is encapsulated and has its own gear oil.

I have tried graphite powder and found it made no difference to the sliders. The drive boss and bush in the variator that slides on it seemed to build up a gunk, it is best to be kept clean so it can slide freely.

The good mechanics whom I know that are familiar with CVTs say none is best. Just about anything wet attracts dust from the belt, making more problems than it ever solves. Graphite quickly gets spun out, so it may be good for the first couple of miles, but then? *pffft*
