I'm thinking of buying an 09 A50. Problem is the owners teenage son lost the keys so he and his buddy thought they would just hotwire it. They busted the leg shield where you put in the key and they pull some wires out and were tying them together willy nilly. Needless to say it wouldn't start. I know I'll have to replace the ignition switch ($39.95) and the leg shield ($54.81) but what else could be damaged. CDI maybe, shorted out the whole system, you guys tell me, please. The owner only wants $300.00 for the scoot and other than whats above it's in mint condition with less than 2000kms on it. My girlfriend and I both have A125s and I see a lot of parts are interchangeable. We/she could use some of these parts to repair some of the damage she has done to hers laying it down twice. What do you guys think?

I would guess the voltage regulator could be damaged. The funny thing is, I think they will start if you just unplug the ignition switch. Sounds like a good buy if you are willing to put in a little tlc. Also resellable if you do use it as a parts bike.

I didn't see a voltage regulator listed on the parts list. Where is it located and could it be under a different name? I'm using Kymcoparts123.com as a refence.

Might be listed as a rectifier?
