Title: complete loss of power :(

hey :)i have the kymco super 8 50cc 4 stroke, and on the way to college today and the day before, at exactually the same point going up a slight hill, it just stoped accelerating and started to slow down, and even if i gave it some gas, it wouldnt do anything, so i had to pull to the side of the road, and once i pull over and stop, it works fine.
this has happened 2days in a row at exactually the same point.
anyone got any idieas on what is wrong?

check your rollers and belt and clutch sounds like something weak in that area.

Hey GOD,
       Trade your 4stroke to 2stroke,4 strokes are known to be weak in climbing hills.

ill run it for a bit longer, maybe 2 more weeks? then ill think about changing the parts back over?

I would guess your belt has started to fail and was slipping.  Could you smell burning rubber?

To check you need to take the cover off the CVT and measure the belts width. The correct value is listed in the service guide for your scoot. There are many of them here: http://tinyurl.com/22mvlwh (http://tinyurl.com/22mvlwh)

The next thing would be the rear clutch.  If the shoes are worn, they can slip.

What modifications have you made to your scoot?  What non-OEM parts have you used?

i think i could smell rubber come to think of it.
i have got a 24mm racing carb with an 88 jet and k&n air filter
verater washer removed
and revlimiter cable cut

Your belt is dead... it just has not failed yet.  I would get a new belt ASAP or you can have the belt snap and disintegrate while riding. 

Sometimes it will wrap around the variator and simply make a mess... other times it can wrap around the rear and cause the rear wheel to lock up.  Locking up the rear wheel while at speed and cause an accident.

ahh cheers for your help mate, i will get a new belt ASAP
got any ideas where i can get one from?
and do you know how often you should change your belt? i.e, how many miles?

I would get you belt from a Kymco dealer.  All the aftermarkets I hear about fail sooner than the OEM. The owners guide or service manual will tell you the service interval but It is likely to be about 12,000km.

hmm i have done only 5000km, so i shouldnt have to change my belt?
