Title: GPS Speedometer Readings
Post by: Cardie on January 30, 2011, 01:37:25 PM
Finally got round to GPSing my scooter to see what its true speed is, and its a weird result

Up to about 10 MPH the GPS and speedo were pretty accurate.

At 39 MPH on the Speedo the GPS said 30.5 MPH?

I was riding along side a mate at 35 MPH on both Speedos and we were going at the exact same speed?

Is my scooter really 10MPH out?

Forgot to add, ther GPS was a Samsung Jet using Route 66 Sat Nav, if that helps :)

Why is it every single moped/scooter are always a huge margin out? So when my scooter was restricted, it was actually doing 20MPH? :S Somthing not right there.

I've had a honda metropolitan and two yamaha vino classic 50,s and the speedometers were accurate with all three of them , now I have a people 50 and a genuine buddy 50 and the speedo's are off on both of them by about 10% . Go figure .

I've seen some set ups with a bicycle speedometer on em.  Gotta find the type where you can enter the tires circumfrence.

Was behind a renault people carrier today (with the digital dash in the middle) and i was going pretty much the same speed as that, and mine and its speedo were correct, maybe 1 mph out?
