I have a '23 People S 150. My scooter will be 4 years old pretty soon. Early on I put in lighter Dr. Pulley sliders to improve my acceleration. I'm going to pull the variator apart to see how they're wearing. I'm wondering if I should change my belt while I have it apart? What are the advantages, if any, of Kevlar over a factory belt? Is it a worthwhile investment?

For a 150 (first owner) it will depend on km/mls to change the belt.
If it wasn't tinkered with, leave it up 15 tkm. I saw more shredded kevlar belts than OEM stuff.
Your choice, but I would go for an original BANDO or MITSUBOSHI belt which are KYMCOs OE items.
Except price and sticker KEVLAR I couldn't find any difference.
Edit: people tell in forums (at dealership too) mostly about bad experience with a brand or an item.
I'm inclined to see the small promillage of really faulty (in this case KEVLAR reinforced belts) as a normal wear and tear.
Consumers think KEVLAR (inspired by movies and ads) is undestructable and leave belts longer than recommanded by factory standarts.
Also homemade, unprofessional backyard work with minor knowledge (YT video replaces vocational training) and unsufficiant tooling on vehicles does the rest.

Years ago on this forum - owners who'd been riding Kymcos for some time often came out against using Kevlar belts on a Kymco scooter.
The reasons were twofold:
1) You cannot do better than an OEM KYMCO belt!
2) When Kevlar belts burst they tend to damage other CVT parts as well.
KYMCO makes a top-quality belt. Full stop.
