Title: CERAKOTE to clean yellowed LED DRL's
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on June 05, 2026, 03:29:10 PM
Most light lenes now are not glass - and the plastic being used seems to yellow over the years.
I used Cerakote on my daughter's 14 yr old Scion headlights lenes - and the results were pretty good!

Today I applied the procedure to the Philips DRL LEDs which I installed in the same car's grill 13 yrs ago.
They are wired to come on when car running, headlights off. So, daylight DRL's.

Purchased from Europe/eBay - sold as replacements for some Mercedes. They are very bright!! Even slightly yellowed - they are bright. They slotted nicely into the grill space - held securely now for over a decade with 3-M autobody tape.

very smart! My company provided cars always had the DRLs on them, back when they were an extra cost option. I believe the idea originated in Europe and were shown to significantly increase visibility to others.

Mercedes DRLs on the Scion...who would have known?  They look good, though.
