...my 1100 beemer has a windshield from a KYMCO DINK 200
..this time of the year a friend of mine gave me a ring to do some island hopping in Croatia.
He rides a MOTO GUZZI Norge 1200 and for my XC 300 it would be a torture to follow this sporty.
So I took my BMW R1100RS , saddled up and off I went to meet him in Croatia.
The roundtrip was six days from island Cres, to Krk then further along the coast, hopping onto Kornati islands, then a lil different route back to Cres/Italy.

..some more, eating and a good sip are serious matters at the Med, Goran takes good care of this piglet, ready at around midafternoon..
Nice taverns in shaded places, whats not to like.
This poller close to the turnbridge is an old cannon from Austrian/Hungarian Monarchy, cemented there for centuries.

..you take your pick, pay the fischerman, tell them what time you want it ready, deal done and delicious...
No pics from us eating, the amount would be embarassing.
-
..the famous Blue Cave, only accessable from sea or by a climbtrip of a couple of hours down through brush...I could not let my beemer alone on the parking place ...
This settlement exists more than 1500 years already, a place to chill out.
-
..has an abandoned part which let you feel what you are as a human (memento mori).
...view over the island is just great
... back to more recent places with food and cold beer..!

Ruffus, I like your bike and I love your pictures and descriptions of the beautiful places you're visiting! Keep them coming!

Echo Hawk's post entirely, looks like a great trip Ruffus. You're doing a great job for the Croatian Tourist Board!

As said, great places great people, especially when you approach them in their language.

How many languages do you speak Ruffus? (asking for the typical American who only speaks English..but took a few years of Spanish in school)

Here in this corner we speak italian, german, croatian (which is basically the same as serbian, bosnian, slovenian) and the local Friuliani. English is taught from elementry on.

I took a year of Spanish in Orlando - then we moved to Paris.
Later, toured sunny S.E. Asia.
I can swear in 4 languages.

Great pictures! Stunning scenery! The only thing older than 250 years in the US are some of the trees and all the rocks!
There seem to be so many motor ferries on the Mediterranean Sea! Plenty to tour ferry to ferry!

Croatia claims to have 1000 islands, about half of them are connected by ferries. Its great, doing island hopping, particular on bikes, no need for reservation on ferries.
