Like seen at topic I had the annual "spring adventure" tour with my XC 300, which lead me from Giulia Venetia to Croatia, the island of Cres with beautiful shores, great nature and even better food.
Ferry over from Croatia mainland takes about 30 minutes with a beautiful view across the med sea.
Took four days off from my hardship as a retiree where I stayed at a friends house from where we took daily 50 to 80 kms rides.

..last to say, the XC 300i does very well for this purpose. Load capacity in METIN box and topcase was plenty, could take some fourage from Italy as a gift to my host.
All in all a great trip.

Can one swim in that part of the Mediterranean (Adriatic)?
I have trouble being around salt-water that I can't swim in :)
Nearly froze to death off the coast of Mass one early spring morning - my friends tried to warn me.
My Hx is Florida. Who knew?!
They buried me in sand on the shore and plied me with Dunkin D's to revive me.
I stopped quaking around lunch time.

One of the best parts of Med (Croatia has about 1000 islands) to swim, chill out and relax.
Clean water, no pollution at shore, nearly no people around.
Minus: this hidden places are hard to reach by car and ferry, scooter better, coz of very small roads.

Had years of holidaying around the Greek islands in my 30's and loved hiring a scooter each time to look out hidden gems like the one you describe Ruffus. Ah the follies of youth!
Talking of which, I was a biker even back in those days owning machines from 500-1,200cc so felt very confident riding little 125cc scooters. Sadly a pal I was with, dressed in shorts & T shirt, wasn't so experienced and came off on a gravel-strewn bend taking a layer of skin off his leg & hip. A local Greek guy dragged him straight into the sea to wash down the injuries (Ouch, salt water on open cuts!) and then directed us to a local First Aid station. This was back in the early 80's and treatment was a liberal iodine wash on all the affected area. What a sight he looked :)

Would do the same nowadays. Lil bit of pain won't harm. Maybe prescribe him a Tetanus shot and a Grappa or two, too!
