Please help, I have a problem, my Kymco People 250 won't start. The spark plug won't get a spark. I tried replacing the spark plug and even the ignition coil, but that didn't help. The mechanic notes last time said that the carburetor needs to be adjusted so maybe the problem has something to do with that? Any suggestions you have would be helpful.

Firecrab welcome here!
Did the scoot fire up before?
If yes, what was done in between?
How long were the scoot parked w/o riding and where?
Your scoots symptoms might be caused by:
Pls check accordingly..
-kill switch (spray and switch on and off several times)
-sparkplug (try another NEW one)
-coils input cables
-weak battery (put jump start cables from a car)
-shot fuses (renew them all)
-cables from/to fuses
-relay connectors (off, spray, wiggle)
Start with throttle on idle.
Come back for Qs or feedback.

Thanks for responding, the scooter has never fired up while I've had it, I've had it for years and I got it from my grandparents who probably didn't drive it either because they're old, so maybe that's the cause of it refusing to start? It's just been in my parents garage for the most part and most recently in my garage. I'll test each of the things you have listed when I have enough time.

One or two more points:
since it hasn't been started for a while,
1) you might check also on the scoots RH side above the cooling fan grill:
-there are two cables coming out from the engine block, covered by a black rubber grummet.
This two cables should (during starting mode with jump vables) around 40 VAC.
- if NOT, the likelyhood of a rotten/broken alternator coil is high.
2) go with a multimeter on both PLUS and MINUS which lead TOWARDS your battery
-watch MM
-good battery
-start button
- now your MM should show at least 13.8 to 14.2 VDC.
If NOT, one of your pieces in your chain (alternator, cables, connectors, rectifier/regolator) is faulty.
