Went into Y.S. today for my birthday lunch of choice - built around a veggie sub from Current Cuisine, ice brewed coffee from dino's and pastries from the Dog.
It was the annual "PorchFest" end of summer event. This is a community come-together event - namely several dozen musical presentations at sites around the village - most often on front porches.
Some of the entertainers:
Dr. Meat, Kid Bigfoot, Strings Attached, Trash Fart, Playing Possum, Momtime, Whatev'r, Wrong Elevator, Nasty Bingo, Rachel Mouse & Fitch, Captain's Daughter, ....and one - musically styled - psychedelic folk. I missed that one....got sidetracked by an excellent street magician. His finale still has us perplexed. He made 3 large cantaloupes appear from under his top-hat! I had a buck in my hand - but after the cantaloupes, I doubled that!
A very good brass combo played from the porch of the hotel - I think they were pros hired by the hotel.

We scored the primo table for listening - staying clear of the massive foot traffic!

Daughter found a couple of often HTF buckeyes fallen from the big tree above our table.

At one point I helped a pair of seniors parallel park their VW bus nearby. She was having trouble getting it into reverse.
I took some pics of this rare thing. Then noticed that they had dated it '71.
Well, my first VW after Vietnam was a '69..... baywindow. The last split window busses were made around 1967.
They were thanking me for my help and then walked happily away into the crowd (parking spots were HTF today)
Today I phoned the seller- my research told me that it was either a mistake or it could only be a Brazilian model. It was ! Nice chat with the nurse who owned it. she had it shipped from S. America a few yrs ago.

Saturday crowds in this little destination village are always impressive....today, with this event in town - even I, an old hand at finding parking - had to go one street over! 'Posers' ride and drive through all day. Saw a vintage red Ferrari! Couple on a PCX and another couple on matching Honda 90 trails.

The village has signs posted that bycicles may use the full lane. Not sure I'd do this!~

Family had a great time - high points for me were that sandwich, and those magic cantaloupes!!!~

I did some reading. It is not a VW made in Mexico..... but it could very well could have been made in Brazil.
It is said that this model continued in Brazil - to meet local demand until 1975!
