Title: 52°F August~!
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on August 25, 2025, 07:16:59 PM
Could not believe that I had to charge my heated gloves last night for today's dawn ride.
August for Pete's sake!
The Oxford rain over-jacket kept me warm over a mesh FirstGear.
Learned my lesson long ago - dress correctly if you want to stay comfortable - never mind the time of year.
The only major/major hassle was the low sun coming home. Hate that! Blue tape deployed.
At one point I tried flipping the sun-glass thing down in my helmet. It had been a few years since I've used it. Could not find it at first - then when I found the lever it dropped down perfectly - perfectly filthy!
Couldn't see a blessed thing! Sure glad the retractor spring worked quickly! I was riding blind.

watching weather closely ever year Labor Day weekend, my brother has a get-together at his camp in northern Vermont,

usually I trailer my UTV up, (he owns several hundred acres with miles of trails) but this year I'm thinking of riding my AK550 up and riding some of the roads in the area. I don't feel like sleeping over, and temps are forecast to drop to the mid 40s, for my ride home after his fireworks display (better and longer than many municipal shows, he hires a professional, computerized control)

one year I trailered my UTV and K-Pipe. last year a stayed a whole week, weather was abnormally warm, this year more normal

recent lows here in the 40's F (4-10 C)...very strange for late August.  Life has gotten in the way of my riding the past few weeks...can't even remember the last time I rode!  Hope to get warmer weather again and get back on the bikes.
