Many years ago when I was in high school, my friend's brother's room mate decided he wanted a motorcycle. He had never owned one before but since he was older than us, he needed a "big bike". We had all been through smaller displacement bikes before buying larger rides. We went with him to the Honda shop where he decided that a new 305 Super Hawk was for him. Even the sales guy tried to suggest a 160 or similar. Nope not for Wayne he put his money on the line and got ready to ride. He fired it up and went right into a stack of tires on display! He got back in the car and sheepishly went home. My buddy rode it home and over time put most of the miles on that bike!

If we're going down Memory Lane... Used to ride my BSA Bantam to High School where we'd all park up in a neighbouring cul-de-sac (d'you get those in the States? A short residential road that's a dead end?) back in the days where you could leave your bike all day and not have it stolen!
Any how, each day at home time we'd stand around chatting to the wannabe bikers who would ask to sit on the bikes and even cheekily ask for a go. On one occasion when a friend allowed a lad to have a short go on his scooter - memory is hazy on model, but I'd guess a 150 or 200cc Lambretta - and he revved it to h€ll and dropped the clutch immediately in 1st, shooting forward with air under the front wheel into the line of parked bikes... Boy was he embarrassed, but happy days as no expensive plastic to break back in '69 we just had to bend mirrors etc., back into shape.
Pal of mine Ray, on another occasion took 2 of us one lunchtime to a local pub on his Royal Enfield 650 & sidecar. Showing off on the return journey he launched it off a hump back bridge! Each of the three wheels landed separately and the outfit was all over the place for about 50 yards, but fortunately no oncoming traffic or I'd not be here to recount the story.
