Went to the hospital this morning, got a new hip and home by 2. I don't expect to use my new two wheeler for more than a couple of days.

with a slip on exhaust and some upgraded rubber that thing could be awesome! ..but seriously, a new hip is a big deal. Hope you recover quickly and get back to feeling like your old self (pre hip problems).
Any estimate on when you'll be able to get back on 2 motorized wheels?

I feel like I could ride today but the Doc said 8 weeks. It take 6-8 weeks for the bones to fuse with the implants. Doing too much too soon could delay recovery.

Thanks. I should be ready to ride in time for the Beat the Heat Scooter event in August. I would hate to miss that because it's 5 days of riding some of the best roads in the country with a bunch of scooter fanatics.

Hey that's a turn up Klav. As Leo said, thoughts and prayers for a swift recuperation so you can get back onto the scooters as soon as it's safe to do so. (There are days when I think my arthritic hips could do with replacing!)

Take the time for a good recovery Klav. An accident, or just parts wearing out?
I've dealt with knee surgery - but a new hip seems a pretty big deal!

I have looked at them, I need to walk more, but afraid of falling, I would need to fabricate a way to carry on my AK550
as a retired land surveyor (rural surveys) I have walked on uneven surfaces my whole life, now I stumble, I am still way stronger than my doctor doing the basic strength tests, but out of breath quickly just doing housework
I think my knees & hips are ok. but fingers & especially thumbs don't move so well, had a cubital tunnel operation on my left elbow back in '20, freed the left hand up, but tightening up again

Just getting old and wearing out. All my other joints are in pretty good shape. For some reason the cartilage in my right hip just went away.
Of all the joint replacements the hip is the easiest recovery. I had my second PT session yesterday and ditched the walker. I wasn't really using it much after the first couple of days. Now I'm using a cane but only when I go somewhere. I'm planning on taking my dog for a walk for the first time since surgery this morning. I'll use the cane for that.
