Title: good to be riding again....
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on April 30, 2025, 03:45:00 PM
some things keeping me off the scooters
Nice very warm ride. Warm enough that I opted for a rare iced-coffee.
( I ordered, "Large or medium there, Major Tom?"
"Medium, please."
Barista set this tiny little cup of expresso on the counter - I looked at it and said to Joe, "Dam, I shoulda ordered the large!"
"That's not yours dummy." pointing
An expresso drinking regular-customer had come in the door behind me.)

We were at a funeral yesterday. Looking around at the headstones, my daughter asked what kind I wanted. I told her a granite base topped with a couple of thick pieces of teak - inscribed with "Group W"

Glad to see you out again...I took a ride around the Scituate Reservoir in Rhode Island the other day and it felt wonderful...Riding along the beach or in the woods are some of my most relaxing drives.

Can't compete with those photos Stig, but I thought I'd share this of the front of our place taken this morning.  Maybe only lasts a few weeks, but for that time it looks beautiful:

Great pic Neil!
OK, so what are those?
Not that I know flowers - but not familiar to me.

And....that drive is ?? what material. Crushed brick?
(though I think you once told us....)

You're so right Hawk.

The climber is called Wisteria Stig and we bought it the first Spring we moved in, so 2003.  It's been an absolute stunner from about 2004 onwards!  Yeah the drive is bonded resin which we went for as it allows water to drain through.  The tarmac there before used to pool water terribly given the slope down to the house.  If I had my time over, I'd go for traditional black which wouldn't show the oil drips from the kids' cars so badly!
