Title: New Rider!
Post by: Dahlia43 on April 23, 2025, 01:34:41 AM
Hi! We just got a little blue People S 200! Love the darn thing!
I am looking for some accessories! I am looking where to get these accessories. I am having a hard time especially finding a basket for my pup! She's 14 lbs of fluff and likes bike rides. I've looked on Amazon and walmart...nothing. The scooter store...nothing. If you all know a place, please list if allowed.
Also, I would like to work on the motor myself. Such as oil changes, spark plugs...small stuff.
I saw that the weight limit is 330Lbs. Is there a way to increase that?
I am lucky to have found this place! 😊

Welcome here!
For the pup:
-why not taking a topccase of any known brand, cutting out most of the upper lid, leave a structure only and keep your dog safe there?

Welcome! I still miss my S200 that I sold almost 2 years ago. Not sure about increasing weight limit, don’t know if that is possible.

Welcome to the forum Dahlia!
You've a fine scooter!
Kymco accessories are HTF - esp. in the U.S.
Look at ebay Tawain, Spain, Italy etc. for a broader selection.

While the brakes and engine may be able to cope with a bit more weight - with obvious consequences in belt & clutch wear, stopping distances, etc. - the weight on the suspension, bushings, frame components, steering bearings, etc.. etc. have been engineered by the manufacturer to be safe and durable at their posted figure.

Many say that the manufacturers work hard to CYA by posting figures well under the actual capacity of a vehicle. (a heck of a lot of small automobiles are "overloaded", per the axel figures, on their way to the airport with the family and luggage!)

Is there a way to confidently/safely raise the carrying capacity of a scooter?
No.
But...
Ride at the upper limit of the PSI listed in the owner's manual (NOT the figures found on the tire!)

Buy a larger scooter - after checking its weight limits. Surprisingly - some big scooters do not recommend a carrying capacity very much high than that of a 150/200cc scooter!

A heck of a lot of scooter riders are (per the manual) overloading their scooter,  and I'd hate to see the % of those when they add a passenger. Riders in say, Asia - a whole different story! :)

Kymco parts from your dealer - or mail-order. See some suggestions in stickies/ General Discussion. Exploded parts lists are very helpful in figuring out how things go together.
There are manuals on line. Google.
www,cyclepedia.com is one I use.
Again, welcome!

Stig

pictures are welcome - esp. for us illiterates....

I second Stig's recommendation for Cyclepedia manuals. I have them from my last 2 scooters and they are very helpful!

I also recommend you check YouTube. They have videos on many subjects for your S200.

If you search through this forum, you will find many references for parts sources.

Why not attach a plastic milk crate to your rear carrier. Throw in a blanket and your pup is all set!
